00:01It's over.
00:02That's where it's Midtown Sound.
00:03Who is this?
00:05Ayanna sold Midtown Sound and Mateo.
00:07I promised I would deliver a successful tour,
00:09but with Soundhouse pulling out, Europe ain't happening.
00:12You know, I have a sense for these things.
00:15But I thought you would prove me wrong.
00:17So I want to know about your character,
00:18because he shares a lot of your background.
00:21You guys are both Cuban.
00:22Yeah.
00:23What does that mean to you?
00:24Because Star covers a lot of deeper topics.
00:27And we talked about, Queen Latifah and I talked about different topics,
00:31like the abortion and death and murder and all kinds of stuff.
00:34But there's also immigration.
00:36How do you feel being able to tackle that,
00:38knowing that you also kind of live that as William?
00:42That's what I love.
00:44Not only about my character, but about the show,
00:46that they touch real things, real lives,
00:50real stories that we go through every day as human beings
00:54and not as an actor or a musician or whatever.
00:56You know, we show that real life that it's hard for everyone.
00:59You know, it doesn't matter what you do.
01:01But, you know, it also matters where you come from,
01:04because sometimes that makes it harder,
01:06who you are or where you come from.
01:08And here, I think they're doing a great job with that.
01:11I love that.
01:12Obviously for me as a Cuban, it makes things easier
01:15when it comes to understanding my character,
01:17the way he thinks and what he wants.
01:20When it comes to achieving the American dream,
01:23that today there is, I don't know where it is.
01:26Who knows what that is anymore?
01:28We're trying to find it.
01:29We're trying to find it.
01:30Well, the thing is that every time you get out of Cuba,
01:32you break all that.
01:33Because in Cuba, you are taught something else.
01:35They teach you something else completely different.
01:37Actually, they teach you to hate this country.
01:39So, you know, it's the craziest thing on earth.
01:42Yeah.
01:43I think this is the greatest country in the world.
01:45But, and that's why I'm here.
01:47But, you know, obviously you have to come and do different things.
01:51You have to break the rules that you had.
01:54You have to do so many different things
01:58in a different way to achieve what you want.
02:00Well, I love seeing you and Queen reunited.
02:03As we know, we have seen you guys on Girls Trip together
02:06in a little bit of an absent trip.
02:09I was worried when I got here.
02:12Listen.
02:13I said, listen, the last time I saw you,
02:14you turned me to a lamp.
02:15What's going to happen now?
02:16And also, she sucked on your fingers.
02:18I distinctly remember that.
02:21So, we're going to redo the scene now, okay?
02:23Yeah.
02:24Let me hold your hand.
02:26I'm not going to do that.
02:27I'm not going to do that.
02:28It's official.
02:29I'm Princess Latifah.
02:30She has adopted me.
02:31Oh, yeah?
02:32So, you know, it's a family thing.
02:33I'll be at the reunion.
02:34Does that mean that we're going to get to work together, too?
02:36Yes, of course.
02:37Girls Trip, too.
02:38Good.
02:39I like it.
02:40Girls Trip, too.
02:41I love it.
02:42I love it.
