00:00Well, my name is Gail King and I'm the Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer
00:10with Nationwide Insurance. And my responsibilities include the human resources function, corporate
00:17real estate, aviation and security. And so if I were to describe my day, I would say
00:22that it's predictable in some ways and it's ever changing in other ways. At any given
00:29point of the day, I am either meeting with my team working on strategic issues or tactical
00:35or operational issues or I am working with my partners or with the CEO on issues impacting
00:42the company. And then there's issues impacting the community and the role we play in the community.
00:48So it's an exciting job. It is ever changing. And every day I leave feeling like I've made
00:54a difference. As a child, I didn't know that Nationwide existed, clearly did not have a
01:00view into being an Executive Vice President and what that meant. But I knew that I needed
01:07to achieve and obtain a college degree. And so I knew that at each level, I would begin
01:14to see clearer what the future would hold. So I'm always, you know, encouraging people
01:21to just do what you need to do, left foot, right foot, you know, make progress towards
01:27your journey and that, you know, that your vision gets clearer as you get closer and closer
01:33to your destiny. Diversity and inclusion is important in every area of Nationwide. So at the end
01:40of the day, Nationwide is growth and its success depends on our ability to, you know, bring members
01:47into the fold. And our members represent every makeup that's in the external marketplace. And what we know
01:55is that when you have a diverse and inclusive environment that you get the best thinking on
02:00issues that might impact those members. So in every area, diversity and inclusion is important.
02:05I think everyone has a dream job waiting on them. The following are the things that I believe
02:13will ensure that they attain their dream job. My advice would be first, to believe in yourself
02:22and to believe that you deserve it as much as anyone else. That if you're willing to do the work,
02:28you should accomplish whatever it is that you desire from life. Secondly, I think that you need to get in
02:34the way, you need to get in the right lane. You may not know the ultimate destination, but that you need
02:40to at least be on a destination. And as you make progress, you know, your vision gets clearer. And then
02:49I think it's really important to be courageous about things that matter, but to be courageous in a
02:55productive way, in a way that I can hear you, in a way that I want to hear you. And I think that you
03:01just need to get ready to have a wonderful life if you do those things.
