00:00Hi, I'm Lavey Ajayi, and this is Currency Conversations.
00:04I'm here with these two amazing ladies.
00:06We have Sandra Davis, who is the CEO of Sage National Solutions.
00:10And then I have Kayla Walker, who is a lifestyle authority and media maven.
00:15So we're going to talk about credit and debt.
00:17Because these are really important things in adulting, in life, and doing all of this right.
00:22When was the first time you realized that credit was really important?
00:25I think I probably realized it was really important when it was too late.
00:28Or not too late, but you know at that time you're like, wait, what?
00:30For me, it was when I had to get my first apartment.
00:32And I didn't have a credit card up until that point.
00:35And they essentially told me, you don't exist, because you don't have credit.
00:38My first credit card was a secured credit card.
00:40I too had to start with a secured card, and it ended up being okay,
00:44because it really did help me rebuild.
00:46But here's the thing to understand, there will be times and things that you do
00:49that will cause your credit to dip for a while.
00:51That's not a bad thing if you understand what you're doing.
00:54Number one, you check in your own credit score.
00:57It never harms your score.
