00:00Grace Jones is set to release her much-awaited autobiography, I'll Never Write My Memoirs.
00:08Later this month, snippets of the book have recently been released where she slammed some
00:11of the music industry's biggest names, including Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, and Beyonce, whom she says
00:16all copied her. An excerpt from the book reads, I have been so copied by those people who have
00:21made fortunes that people assume I am that rich. But I did things for the excitement,
00:25the dare, the fact that it was new, not for the money, and to make many times I was the first,
00:30not the beneficiary. So is this a sleigh? Because Ms. Jones is a living legend and may have a valid
00:37point. It's evident that some artists draw from Grace Jones' inspiration. It is also no surprise
00:41that she'd hold her tongue, especially when writing her own book, and not speak her truth.
00:45Or is it a shade? Artistry is very subjective and it's unfair to say that these artists copied her.
00:50All right. So I know that was a lot, but on the count of three, it was a lot. It was a lot. We
00:55like to give you a lot. Drop it heavy old fashion. All right. So this is a slayed or shade. Count of
01:00three. One, two, three. Oh, oh, oh. We have two slushes. I'm a slushes.
01:06I'm a slushes. I'm a slushes.
01:08Not everybody's slushes. Okay, so Ursula, why are you a slushes?
01:11Because I do get her point. You know, she wants her recognition and that's what a lot of people
01:16in that position want because you put so much work and energy into putting an image out there.
01:22You want someone to recognize you. But at the same time, that is the meaning and definition of
01:26the word inspiration to inspire others. So you're not going to always get your accolade, you know?
01:30So it's touchy. It's very touchy. And there's one true thing that she did say. I read like some of
01:36her excerpts. Okay. And she said that she's sure that some of the artists that are copying her
01:42don't even know it. But she said she's sure that their stylist does. And that is true. A lot of
01:47times people are hiring hair, makeup wardrobe people to give them an image or help them,
01:51you know, find this look. And they know, but the artist doesn't know. So you can't really blame
01:55the artist directly. That's fair. That's fair. Yeah. Taronda? Well, the same thing she said.
02:00Now, as far as the shade part, I just feel like, you know, when people say imitation is a form of
02:07flattery. I mean, that's a good thing that you got people mimicking. Right. You know, you're iconic.
02:12Yes. That's what icons do. And then later on down the road, everybody is going to want to do what
02:18you do. Right. I plan on being iconic, you know? There you go. Put it out there in the universe.
02:24Ask about me later. Claire? I think if you asked any of those artists she named,
02:30they would pay her her due, just due and her kudos and respect. I don't think it's a matter of them
02:36trying to steal. I mean, they are inspired by her. But she said it herself. She did it for,
02:40you know, the excitement and the dare and not for the money. So how can you get mad if they're
02:44benefiting from it, you know? That's true. Those are good points. Okay, slishayers. My slishayers.
02:48Slishayers. That's all right. Let's check out with our Facebook family. Williams KC says,
02:53and I quote, fashion repeats itself almost like recycled. It's unfair to say people on this
02:57generation copied her. That's ridiculous. Okay. Well, all right. Well, you seem pretty strong
03:02in your point of view. We're slishayin' over here.
