00:00Hi, I'm Dena Campbell, hair and beauty editor, and today I'm here with Taryn Guy.
00:09She is the founder of Live and Learn Your Hair and a natural hair YouTube personality.
00:16Taryn, how are you?
00:18I'm good, how are you?
00:19So, today we want to talk about Frizz.
00:22It is a big issue, summertime's here, it's humid, it's hot.
00:26What do we want to do?
00:27I mean, it is crazy.
00:29How can we embrace it?
00:31Yeah, well first of all, yes, embrace it.
00:34Because a lot of people, they try to fight it and then it becomes a problem and an issue.
00:38So how about, you know, just doing things to make it work for you.
00:42Okay.
00:43And my number one thing would be definitely stay away from heavy, heavy, heavy products.
00:48No matter what hair texture you have.
00:50Products that weigh your hair down kind of lighten up a little bit on the product and it will allow your hair to rise as it dries.
00:58So lightweight all the way.
00:59Rise as it dries.
01:00Rise as it dries.
01:01Great.
01:02So go lighter on the conditioners, lighter products.
01:07Number two, what should we do?
01:09Number two, diffuser.
01:11I can't live without it.
01:12Okay.
01:13Seriously.
01:14When I found out about the diffuser, it's always stuck with me because I love big hair.
01:17So what I like about the diffuser is that you wash your hair, it's curly or, you know, coily and you get the instant dry results from the diffuser.
01:27Okay.
01:28You don't have to wait all day or ten hours and then by the evening your hair is dry and flat.
01:32Instant.
01:33So instant dry results as well as volume.
01:35Volume.
01:36Because the diffuser automatically scrunches your curls and allows your hair to rise.
01:40Okay.
01:41As it dries.
01:42As it dries.
01:43I love it.
01:44Okay.
01:45Number three.
01:46Number three, I definitely would say the pick.
01:50After your hair is dry and you've worn it maybe about one, maybe right after you've done it, you can actually take the pick and pick out your roots.
02:00Okay.
02:01You don't have to disturb your curl pattern and make it frizzy on purpose.
02:04You can if you want to because I do that.
02:07But you can just take it into the root and lift the root and it'll definitely hold.
02:11Now how high should you lift?
02:14As high as you can go.
02:15Because I feel like a lot of women go big.
02:17How should you lift?
02:18Well, that's the beauty of it because you get to control it and your hair is dry so, you know, you see the shape of it as you're doing it.
02:26So I would say start off, you know, kind of if you're not used to the big giant hair, start off gradual with the pick.
02:33And if you want to go bigger, just go bigger.
02:35Also, don't be afraid to extend your wash and wear styles.
02:39You know, I would wash my hair every day or every two days and I would have to start all over again.
02:44Now I have a new appreciation for old hair.
02:47Okay.
02:48Old hair is the best hair for me.
02:50This hair is probably about four days old.
02:52No.
02:53Yes.
02:54So all I do is put it up in a little pineapple at night and spritz it with a little bit of water to re, I guess, moisturize.
03:02Yeah.
03:03Put a little oil in it and fluff it out and I'm ready to go.
03:06Okay.
03:07And it just gets bigger and bigger every day.
03:08So the older, the better, the bigger, the better, the drier, the better.
03:13Everything that happens in the summertime.
03:15Exactly.
03:16Just embrace it and own it.
03:18Okay.
03:19That's also a tip as well.
03:21Own the frizz, own the bigness and just represent your unique style through your big hair.
03:28Great.
03:29Sounds good.
03:30Yeah.
03:31Nice.
03:32onsensize, awesome, cool.
03:33And as long as normal for me and full, I looked into the blames of scarves as much as
03:36my friend Robert Knowles.
03:38I want to think about this, but the joke in the playoffs always starts with me have a
03:40little much younger and younger.
03:41But what's more?
03:43You can make friends?
03:45Yes.
03:47Well done!
03:48Yes.
03:50Yes.
03:51All right.
03:52Yes.
03:53You can even more.
03:55Dr.
