00:00I've been coming to the Essence Festival for about 15 years and it's special this year because I have my daughters with me for the first time.
00:11And my sister is here with me this year as well and I wanted to share this experience with them.
00:17I mean I've been empowered and inspired for so many years and I wanted to bring them and let them share this experience with me.
00:25I found the togetherness of everyone to be really special. I find it fun that everyone is friendly and I love walking around and seeing all the new people and the locals. It's really awesome.
00:35I think it's interesting to see people that are from all around the country coming here to celebrate together and just seeing like families together and on lawn chairs and you know, I think it's fun.
00:47Essence has kind of been really important to me in my life because it's been the one thing that I've managed to do every year for myself.
00:56You know, I feel like I need a source, a place to go, a place to feel like I'm a part of a bigger purpose and I feel like I get that when I come to Essence.
01:05I go to the seminars, I meet people, I connect, I have a really wonderful time but I learn so much and I grow so much as a person and that's why it was important for me to bring my girls this year.
01:17Essence is just so powerful. It really is a wonderful place for black women and women of color in general to kind of get together and there's nowhere else in the country where this kind of experience is happening, not that I've had anyway.
01:31And that's why I come back every year.
