00:00So my sophomore album is called Fire Inside of Me. It was a very cathartic way of sort of releasing a lot of pain and frustration. It feels like a feeling of love, but it's also very destructive and chaotic at the same time.
00:30It's only emptiness without you.
00:40Cause you won't love me again.
00:47I can't fall asleep without you. I'm torturing myself with cigarettes.
01:01Growing up in Detroit has influenced my music majorly because Detroit is just like this nucleus for music.
01:07You have Motown, you have Detroit Rock City, you have the birth of techno, and my parents are jazz musicians as well.
01:14So as a musician, when you grow up feeling this music, it sort of just gets all combined into what you do.
01:21And I love, I love, I love, I love
01:31Unconditionally, untraditionally
01:36And I'm lost, I'm lost, I'm lost, I'm lost
01:42And I'm a little girl
01:47Afraid to me
01:50So my father is from Mexico City
01:52My mother is black, African American, from Detroit
01:55So it was really quite interesting
01:57I'm haunted by the sweet memories
02:04I miss all those crazy things about you
02:10And I'm falling inside all like the leaves
02:16And I really feel like my music sort of has a little bit of variety
02:20And you can really hear these different types of genres of music in this album, especially in Fire Inside of Me
02:50And I love
02:51And I love, I love, I love, I love, I love
03:03It's unconditional
03:06And untraditional
03:08And I'm lost, I'm lost, I'm lost, I'm lost, I'm lost
03:13Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
03:17Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
03:18I'm a little girl
03:20Afraid to leave
