00:00What does it mean to be celebrated at Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards Luncheon?
00:11It's weird. I don't get, you know, recognized for much, you know, so it's nice to be recognized specifically for the journey, you know.
00:21I mean, for so much of my life, I was absolutely fearful and, you know, sort of masquerading as a boss chick and not really living that.
00:32So in the last, I don't know, six, seven years, I've really done the work to be truly fearless, you know, and fierce rather than, you know, I'm walking the walk as opposed to just talking the talk.
00:46So it's nice that someone recognized that I've evolved.
00:50Where do you find your motivation? Where do you find that?
00:54With my crew. I have the dopest mix of awesome, I keep saying boss chicks, but that's the only way I can describe, you know, the women in my life.
01:05And through our adventures, good, bad, and ugly, I take all of that into, you know, onto set.
01:13What does it mean to be a black woman in Hollywood?
01:15Depends on the day.
01:18Today, it's about celebration and sisterhood and togetherness and lifting each other up.
01:25You know, tomorrow when we're all back fighting for the same job, you know, I hope we take some of this spirit into the room with us.
01:32When the light is shining on one, it really just makes the light shine brighter on all of us.
01:36And that's okay.
01:37Essence Black Women in Hollywood, the power of our presence.
