Transcript
00:00Hi, I'm senior beauty editor Tasha Turner and today we are here with the cast of WE tv's new
00:09reality show LA Hair. Now I don't know if you've been under a rock or if you don't know who this
00:15young lady is but Kim Pimble is hairstylist extraordinaire. Like she's like the queen of
00:21hair. With all that you have done, what made you decide to do a reality show? I decided to do a
00:28reality show because I think that what we do is interesting. I feel like I'm the best
00:33industry in the world, hair. And I know that there's a lot of women who want to be educated
00:39on hair and who have a lot of interest in hair. And what better way for them to see, they get
00:44to see on LA Hair a peek into not only just behind the scenes when I'm working with my
00:49celebrity clients, but you also get to see, you know, in the salon and how to run a business
00:54and how to deal with other stylists and, you know, you get to see a lot of cute hair.
00:59They don't see that you don't get too much sleep. You've got to work your behind off. What
01:05are some of the things that you can tell them that are misconceptions that they just think
01:09they can just come in and just start doing Beyonce's hair? Like, you know, what are some
01:12of the things that you tell them? Well, one thing I will say that I appreciate the business
01:19that I am. But it is very demanding. You have to be on point. You have to be ready. You
01:27have to always bring in an A game. You may not get a lot of sleep. It's hard work. You
01:32know, they don't see me when I'm in the airport schlepping bags, about three or four bags back
01:36and forth, you know, from country to country or when I, you know, something's not right with
01:40the travel or the passport is expired all of a sudden. You know, they don't see all of that
01:47stuff. But, you know, I have a love for the industry so I love what I do. But you, I would
01:54tell young women, you have to, and again, you have to be open. You have to be humble. You
01:58can't ever be a bigger diva than your client. That's important, you know, because you're
02:03there, you know, doing hair, you're doing service. And you're servicing your client by doing their
02:08hair and giving them what they look. You have to make sure that they're happy.
02:11Now, there's all of the stylists who come in, like, do they have to know weave or does everyone
02:14have their own specialty? Like, I know that you do short hair and the scene you do and weaving.
02:19So, what's your specialty? And I know that you said yesterday you were an educator. So, I just
02:23want to know what's everyone's specialty. We can go down. Okay. My specialty is basically hair,
02:28but people know me for hair cutting. I did a lot of my training at Vidal Sassoon Academy. I have my
02:35online, online school at the moment. So, I do teach a lot of classes across the country. Weaving,
02:42everything I do, I want to make sure I specialize in anything that comes into the salon. So, I make
02:47sure I can take care of any client. I don't turn nothing down with my collar. I don't turn down no
02:51money. So, I have to make sure that everything is going to be right and on point, that you can't
02:55clock, and you're going to look great. Because I'm going to look great, you're going to be flawless.
03:00Me the same. I also trained at Vidal Sassoon. So, I mean, I'm well versed in cutting, styling,
03:07but I have to say my specialty extensions, and wigs, hair pieces, and hair color.
03:13I do a little bit of everything, but I mainly, most of my clientele gets extensions and weaving,
03:19and I just do really long-lasting, painless extensions. And so, people always like sitting
03:25in my chair because they know their braids aren't going to be like pulling their face super tight,
03:28but they last at the same time. But I just still do short haircuts. I do a lot of color and
03:33like just natural custom blending and, you know, giving people colors that look natural,
03:37even though it might be full head of extensions. Catch the premiere episode of LA Hair on WE tv,
03:44May 31st, Thursdays at 10 o'clock.
