00:00Hello, everyone. Welcome to Front Row Backstage. I'm Nicole Melton, your beauty editor, and I'm here with the fabulous Celia Smith, our fashion editor. We're here at New York Fashion Week, Fall 2012, getting ready to go backstage for Tracy Reese to check out all the hottest hair, makeup, and fashion trends. Come with us.
00:30So, Jeannie, tell us a little bit about the look you're creating here at Tracy Reese today.
00:41The look today has a natural street style, so it's very casual dressing, and I really just wanted to incorporate that into the hair. I didn't want the hair to look too finished, too overly glamorous, just really casual.
00:54So, what we did was we prepped the hair with the Tresemme 24-hour body mousse, and I rough-dried it with my fingers on high heat, and then what we did was we just allowed the hair to part where it naturally wanted to fall.
01:08And then after that, we took a teardrop section from the crown down to the nape and fastened it with an elastic, and then the remaining side sections we twisted into the ponytail and pinned it with bobby pins.
01:20It's all about Ms. Tracy Reese, as you know. We live for her.
01:23We do.
01:24And the look was, and she's going to kill me for saying this, but was inspired by Tracy.
01:29Her collection is really about great pops of color. It's super, super colorful, but we wanted it to be very pretty and girly, but a little tough at the same time.
01:41So, the look is beautiful, gorgeous, flawless skin, highlighted, a great pop of color.
01:53It's all about the pop of color on those lids.
01:56It's eyeliner. It's a pencil eyeliner done in the shape of a liquid eyeliner.
02:01So, it's not too retro, not too deliberate, not too costumey. Brows are super, super full, super, super shiny.
02:09Again, skin is flawless, and the lip is just a nice, soft tint of color, a little bit of a rosy with a little bit of a moisture to it.
02:18Well, we're from Sally Hansen, and we've worked with Tracy Reese for five years, and we create shades for Tracy with her inspiration.
02:24We've been developing these pigments, which come from the Far East and have silver in them, and creates an iridescence that makes the colors look a little blue, a little green, depending on how you're looking at it.
02:35Tracy asked us to go in certain directions, and she created two shades called Copperhead and Scarab.
02:49What was the inspiration behind your collection?
02:51You know, I wanted to do color. I wanted to do a very optimistic collection that celebrated textiles and textures, and I was inspired by a lot of beautiful interiors, which you probably saw some of them in the backdrop, and I just wanted, you know, to feel strong.
03:12The silhouettes are really pretty easy. Everything flattering. So, although we embellished, it was usually on a simple silhouette.
03:21I really wanted to do tailored coats, and I was feeling like an hourglass shape for coats, so that when you're out on the street, you look just as good as when you're inside.
03:32So, we just started sculpting away, and we added those little baby peplums to give another layer, and, you know, some had fur trim.
03:39Also, it was really feeling for duffel coats, so we layered those in, did them our way, again, with some fur trim, a little bit of gold embellishment, just to make it Tracy Reese.
03:49So, we just came from the Tracy Reese runway show, and the hair was absolutely amazing.
03:59There were low ponytails with little pieces flying as the girls came down the runway to really balance out the clothing, and in terms of the makeup, they had just one stripe of teal eyeliner done by Mally Roncal,
04:12and the lip was a really pretty bright, glowing orange, and some of the girls had on sunglasses and really low hats, so you just saw this pop of this glowing orange lipstick.
04:23It was totally gorgeous.
04:25Celia, what did you think about the fashion?
04:27The fashion was just as bold and bright as the makeup.
04:31The key thing about the looks were the bright colors.
04:34She really, she perfects a dress.
04:36We love, we love Tracy Reese's dress, but this season, she really killed it with the coats.
04:41Bright orange shirling jacket, bright yellow fur trench, bronze gold lame trench coat.
04:48It was really a strong point for her this season, which I loved, because it was a great breakaway from the beautiful dress that she does so well.
04:55There was one standout dress that I did love, which was the metallic purple party frock.
05:01Loved that dress.
05:02Overall, the collection was strong, bright, and bold, which is a huge, huge statement for fall.
05:07Forget about the grays and the drab colors.
05:10It's all about the brights.
05:12It's all about the brights.
05:13Well, there you have it.
