00:00Hi, Essence family. This is Yolanda Sanguini, entertainment editor at Essence.com.
00:07Welcome to Coffee Talk, your weekly dose of what's hot on Essence.com.
00:12We're out here on the streets of New York City getting people's reactions to the death of Soul Train creator and host Don Cornelius.
00:19Shireen, what were your thoughts when you found out Don Cornelius passed away?
00:22It's sad because, you know, he's an icon.
00:25I just remember Saturday morning watching Soul Train.
00:30Very impacted a lot of people's lives just from music to dancing to the culture.
00:34So it was really, really touching. It hit me really hard.
00:37It was something that was really sad. He'll be a myth.
00:40You know, I mean, he was 75, I believe, but I was more shocked at the way that he passed away.
00:44What were some of your favorite memories?
00:46When I was growing up, I would say definitely the dancing and the hair.
00:50Even now, I look back at the hair and I'm like, oh, I want to try that.
00:53He's so charismatic and smooth and his stillness, and he's quiet but powerful at the same time.
01:01And you can't forget the Soul Train. I mean, that's iconic.
01:06It was just something that I grew up on along with my sister and stuff.
01:09So it was a part of growing up.
01:12Everybody remembers the word jumble.
01:14I love peace and soul the way it ended the show.
01:16And then the Soul Train line, obviously.
01:18I mean, when they came down the Soul Train line, it was something different every time.
01:21So when it goes, Soul Train!
01:25You have a favorite Soul Train move?
01:27I think it was something like this.
01:29That's a lot of fun.
01:30I feel the same.
01:32That's good.
01:34That's good.
01:35Only you want to go and have that.
01:37It's a good question.
01:39All right.
01:40I do.
01:41I do.
01:42Avatim.
01:43That's all right.
01:44I do.
01:45I do.
01:46I do.
01:47I do.
01:48I do.
01:49I do.
