00:08this new street called Frenchman Street. It's not a new street, but it's been around for maybe
00:11seven, eight years now, and the music clubs are real popping. I've been playing professionally
00:19for like the past 13 years. So I've been playing since I was 15 and I'm 28 now. I started in
00:24middle school, though, you know, picked up the horn and started doing a lot of things. But we're
00:29playing professionally since I was 15. And when I was in high school, you know, I wanted
00:33to better myself with the instrument. And my mom bought me a CD by the Dirty Desert Brass Band
00:39called Ears to the Wall. Three years after I had that CD, I was playing with that band.
00:43And now I have my own group, Big Sam's Funky Nation, and still doing it, you know?
00:50The one year that Essence wasn't here, all of us nearly died. You know, I think it was
00:54in Houston. It was like, never again in Houston, you know? But we love Essence here in New Orleans.
00:58We appreciate Him for coming back, you know. Definitely we got to keep it going, you know? Definitely.
