00:00Hello, this is Angus at the Bureau of Meteorology.
00:02Today's Tuesday, but this National Weather Forecast video will take a look at Wednesday's weather.
00:07And tomorrow, across southern parts of the country, a dry day is expected,
00:11and temperatures fairly warm as well.
00:12Now, not as warm as the heat wave last week, but warm nonetheless,
00:16and that will give us elevated fire danger across many southern areas for Wednesday.
00:21Rainfall on Wednesday, mostly in northern Australia,
00:24in particular around this tropical low-pressure area here.
00:27Some heavy rain and storms around parts of the Territory and Western Australia.
00:31And we'll also see some increased showers and thunderstorms across some parts of Queensland's central coast.
00:37And as we do our state flyovers, we will start in Queensland in the south-east.
00:41A dry day is expected around Brisbane, but it will be a little bit cool with a high of 28 degrees.
00:46A little bit gusty as well, and quite a lot of cloud cover there.
00:50Further up the east coast, from about rocky northwards,
00:53much more elevated chance of showers and thunderstorms.
00:56And actually, in particular, we could see some heavy rain and storms around the Mackay area,
01:00perhaps up towards Bowen and the Whitsundays as well.
01:04Western Queensland will have some hit and miss showers and thunderstorms,
01:07possible all the way from Birdsville right up to the Gulf Coast.
01:11To New South Wales, a fairly settled and sunny day is expected,
01:15temperatures are really on the rise as well.
01:18Most places here, just on the warm side of their summertime averages.
01:22And in fact, quite a way above average down here in the south,
01:25with Canberra headed towards 33 degrees.
01:27Wagga Wagga not far away, headed towards 36 degrees.
01:31Sydney should have a pleasant 29 degree day.
01:33Almost all areas will be dry, but we expect to see some showers and storms
01:36in the far northwest around the region of Bourke.
01:40A fairly warm day is also forecast for Victoria.
01:43Most of the state into the 30s, and many places into the mid-30s for tomorrow.
01:47The wind is going to be picking up too.
01:49Quite a gusty day, especially across southern parts of the state.
01:53And that combination of hot, dry weather and windy conditions
01:56will give us high to extreme fire danger,
01:59including the chance of extreme fire danger in and around the Melbourne region.
02:03There will be a cool change moving through.
02:05That's going to affect western and southern Victoria
02:08during the afternoon or early evening.
02:10So temperatures will begin to fall away before the end of Wednesday.
02:14Quite gusty and quite warm across Tasmania as well.
02:17And that's going to give high fire danger across the vast majority of the state
02:21down here through the day on Wednesday.
02:23Temperatures into the upper 20s or even brushing 30 degrees
02:26in some areas like Swansea.
02:28Most of the day will stay the same, warm and windy,
02:31but we will eventually see a cool change arrive,
02:33reaching the west coast with a few showers during the evening hours,
02:37crossing over Tasmania late in the day.
02:39That will mean a drop in temperature as Wednesday comes to a close,
02:43then a much cooler night and a much cooler day expected on Thursday.
02:47Warm and windy is also the name of the game here,
02:50particularly through the morning hours in South Australia.
02:53Again, high to extreme fire danger forecast across most southern areas.
02:57The sun will be out, temperatures in the 30s in most places,
03:00a couple of spots actually back up into the 40s as well
03:03after so many hot days in the last couple of weeks.
03:07We will see the wind change around about lunchtime
03:09across Kangaroo Island and the peninsulas,
03:11then Adelaide around about 3pm in the afternoon.
03:14And that means as we finish the day,
03:16cooling off across all of our southern districts,
03:19staying hot further north,
03:20a couple of showers and storms possible in the very, very far northeast.
03:24And for Western Australia,
03:26while temperatures here are pretty seasonal,
03:29about what we expect at this time of year,
03:31the wind will be blowing quite strongly
03:32and that will again lead to high or extreme fire danger,
03:36including the chance of some extreme fire danger
03:38in the Perth hills out to the east of the city.
03:41Temperatures in the north are staying fairly warm.
03:44We've got 40 degrees plus over inland parts of the north
03:46and mid to upper 30s over coastal areas.
03:50Minimal rainfall is expected here tomorrow,
03:51although we might see a shower or two along this stretch of coast.
03:55And finally, up in the north,
03:57this is where much of the rain across the country
03:59is concentrated for Wednesday,
04:01in particular around this tropical low pressure area here,
04:03which is moving into Western Australia during the day.
04:06Widespread rain and thunderstorms through these areas here
04:09could easily see 50 to 100 millimetres of rain
04:11across large parts of the territory or the Kimberley tomorrow.
04:16And even after this low is moving out to the west,
04:18there's lots of moist air in behind it,
04:20so we will see extensive wet weather
04:22across the Northern Territory
04:24all the way up to the Darwin region.
04:27If you would like to see what the rest of the week has in store,
04:29you can find your local spot on the Bureau's website or app.
04:32Thanks for watching.
