00:00We coined him the Gorilla Groom because Andrew had an opinion for everything.
00:07Everything.
00:13We got engaged on August 26th of 2016.
00:16We actually went back to our original first date location, which is the South Street Seaport.
00:22There was actually a 22 push-up challenge that was happening at that time.
00:26And I said, hey, you know what, let's set up the camera, let's do it for Instagram like we normally do.
00:29On the South Street Seaport, we're going to have the background in this.
00:32It's going to be dope.
00:33She started getting down and I was like, hold on, hold on.
00:35Let me get down first.
00:37And when I got down to do the push-up, I pulled out the ring and she was like, what's happening right now?
00:42What's happening right now?
00:43And then at that moment I proposed and I said my words and that was that.
00:48From there, we had the picnic, had the drinks in the park.
00:53And then we went to an engagement dinner, a surprise engagement dinner.
00:57That's where all of our friends and her close family were there and just set the whole place off.
01:02She was, that's one of the greatest moments.
01:04That's what I love the most is her smile.
01:06You know, that's, that's, that's what I love the most.
01:08The smile that she got on her face, lit up the whole room and then set the tone right.
01:13My heart, my spirit, my future feels at ease with you in it.
01:22The typical groom in my opinion is a guy that just say, yes, yes, yes.
01:26Whatever you want, go ahead.
01:28Not my husband.
01:29We coined him the gorilla groom because Andrew had an opinion for everything.
01:37Yeah.
01:38Everything.
01:39From the table setting, from the knives, from the venue, like the jewelry that our bridal party wore, like everything.
01:48But it mattered.
01:49And as the bride, I took no offense to it because it was actually helpful.
01:54Because it settled a lot of my thoughts, whether should I do A, should I do B.
01:58Right.
01:59He had an opinion, so it helped.
02:01The dress embodied old Hollywood.
02:03Yep.
02:04So once I told him the theme was will be old Hollywood, he then made sure that his tux went into that theme and we made sure that the girls, the bridesmaids and the groomsmen went into that theme and everything else just started falling into place.
02:18And credit to the team at Marina Del Rey as well, because they really had a fantastic team there.
02:23Yeah.
02:24And the moment we pulled up and when we saw the water looking over the two bridges was, I was sold at that point.
02:31And the team at Marina Del Rey held us down and made us feel confident once we said, it's our day.
02:36We're going to let go now.
02:37And we're going to be.
02:38That was hard to let go.
02:39It was hard to let go.
02:40It was hard to let go.
02:41Both type A personalities.
02:42Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:43A plus plus personalities.
02:44A plus plus.
02:45We had a wedding singer that sang Ribbon in the Sky because that's one of his favorite songs.
02:51It was incredible.
02:53My walk was long.
02:55It was a long way.
02:56It kept coming on steps.
02:57By the time I reached you is when the song actually finished.
03:01Like, I walked the entire song.
03:04I kept it in.
03:05She's mad.
03:06I didn't cry.
03:07I wanted tears.
03:10But we had the standard flow.
03:11Ceremony, cocktail hour, reception.
03:14But we wanted to cut out the nonsense.
03:17For instance, we didn't do a garter toss.
03:18We didn't do a bouquet toss.
03:20We wanted time to party.
03:22Yeah, honestly, that's all it was.
03:24Because we just wanted to get straight to business.
03:25Yes, we wanted to party.
03:27The food itself was incredible.
03:29So Marina Del Rey, they're an Italian catering company.
03:32The food was so good that we did three food tastings.
03:37We kept bringing different people as an excuse.
03:40Our cocktail hour was the bomb.
03:43So we heard.
03:44Yeah, so we heard.
03:45But we knew what the menu looked like.
03:47They had sushi station, American station, Chinese station.
03:51Shrimp and shrimp and shrimp.
03:53There was so much food and we didn't taste.
03:56Not a lick.
03:57Not a lick.
03:58Wedding day, you get dragged.
03:59Hey, picture, picture, picture, moment, moment.
04:02So you're trying to create all these moments for memories.
04:04But then forgetting to stuff your belly.
04:07We were going to play Caribbean music anyway.
04:17We know everybody's going to grab a flag or grab something off the table and try and wave it in the air at every song that we play anyway.
04:24So we said, you know what?
04:25Let's piece it together with a whole environment, with a background to it.
04:29So that's where the Stilt Walkers came in.
04:31Each guest had their own specific flag.
04:34So whether you was from Trinidad, whether you was from China, Ecuador, Colombia, Jamaica, Antigua.
04:39Just gorgeous.
04:40Just seeing the United Nations just waving.
04:43All at the party.
04:51I felt very proud.
04:52I felt very honored.
04:53I felt blessed.
04:54It was beautiful just to have our families there witness it.
04:58And to say that I'm actually at this point where I have the one that I've chosen.
05:02I have somebody in my life now to call my own for the rest of my life.
05:06All of those things really just came as a culmination of emotions.
05:09And I was just like, wow.
05:12Wow.
05:13This is a big wow thing.
