00:00How you doing? I'm DeVal. I'm Kadeem. And we're the Yellises. And the blackest thing that happened
00:28at our wedding was that... You were so quick to take the mic on this one. Because... Because you're about to blow my uncle up. I know you're going to... It was my favorite part of the wedding. Her uncle, who likes to drink, kept catching the garter. But he's not single. He married. And his wife was at the wedding. I'm done. Awkward. Hilarious. And mad black. You know, every family has that one uncle. I got two. He got two. They wasn't invited. Oh!
00:57I'm Dave. I'm Jahan. We got married about five and a half years ago. And the blackest thing that happened at our wedding was... I was late.
01:09What's up, y'all? It's Rondell. Yannick Holder. And the blackest things that happened at our wedding... Let's see. There's a few super black things. Well, my cousin ended up doing push-ups on the floor somehow.
01:21Because of Henny. Because of Henny. Hennessy. Shout out to Hennessy.
01:24And broke the heel of his shoe, which was nuts.
01:28But that didn't stop it. That didn't stop it.
01:30What's another super black thing that happened?
01:31I mean, we came out to marry a mess. All I need. So, you know.
01:35And we came out guns blazing.
01:37Yannick Holder.
01:37Yannick Holder.
01:39I need to get my...
01:43What else super black happened?
01:47Go Annie Up.
01:47Oh, they played Annie Up at our wedding.
01:50And so, the theme of our wedding was a New York love story.
01:52And you can't think about New York without Annie Up.
01:55Run your jewels, son, at our wedding. You know what I mean?
01:58I'm Christina.
01:59I'm Kristen.
02:01And we've been married about a year and two weeks.
02:04Yeah, a year and two weeks.
02:05A year and two weeks.
02:06Wow.
02:06And the blackest thing that happened at our wedding was our...
02:11Hampton-Howard battle.
02:12Yeah.
02:13I would say so.
02:14Yeah.
02:14I went to Hampton University, Class 07.
02:16And I went to Howard University.
02:19And we don't lose a party.
02:21So, we beat them at our wedding.
02:23I don't think so.
02:24We did. We did.
02:25Hampton was definitely in there.
02:27And we did our thing.
02:28Whatever.
02:29But that had to be the black...
02:30Well, if that was the first, then the second was the biggest swag serve ever in life.
02:35Oh, yeah. The most epic swag serve.
02:37Yeah, that swag serve.
02:38The blackest thing ever.
02:40Hey, Essence. This is Jim.
02:43Hi, I'm Tanisha.
02:44We've been married 22 years.
02:46We've been together for 26 years. We're the Doravilles.
02:49And the blackest thing that happened at our wedding was that we had to prepare the food the night before.
02:58Everyone bailed on us, made promises that they would help us out on our wedding night.
03:02And I set up the night before and prepared everything that everyone was going to have.
03:07It was the day after Thanksgiving, November 29, 1996.
03:13And that made me promise to love her forever.
03:19Our wedding, oh my God.
03:21That's a whole different thing.
03:22I am six years older than my husband.
03:26And because of that, a lot of people were wondering, why am I married in my husband?
03:32So, because of that, they decided that we weren't supposed to get married.
03:37So, a number of persons didn't even show up for the wedding.
03:40And on the actual wedding day, a friend of ours offered us her backyard to keep our reception.
03:48So, it was a beautiful reception.
03:50But, as every wedding, something went wrong.
03:54So, we were supposed to get the table and chairs the night before.
03:58And only to find out, a few of the tables were damaged, which were square tables.
04:03So, a good neighbor offered us some round tables.
04:07So, the lady that offered us her backyard said, she don't keep garbage in her yard.
04:14They can't be round and square table.
04:17So, when the persons went to decorate the reception area, she threw them all out of her yard.
04:24So, I should be getting dressed for the wedding.
04:27I had to leave where I am, go by the reception to decorate myself.
04:32So, I was five hours late for my own wedding day.
04:37Oh yeah, and I was pregnant with our second child.
