00:00Hello, ladies, and welcome to Essence New Orleans Virtual Style.
00:09Woo-hoo!
00:11Hey, I am Dr. Kylie Carter, and we are the ladies of Chatter.
00:18And I'm your girl, Dr. Didi Freeman.
00:21And I'm Jewel Tanker.
00:23And I'm Monique Idlet-Mosley.
00:25And I am Real Talk Camp.
00:27And Chatter is all about real women with some real issues.
00:35And real talk.
00:36But on top of all of that, we have real solutions.
00:41That makes us different because we give takeaways.
00:46All right.
00:46Welcome to the Wealth and Power panel and segment and track.
00:52And what we want to do today is we want to talk about how we are using our influence
00:57to empower those around us to use the gifts that God has given them.
01:03And I want to start with you, Dr. Didi.
01:05Oh, I love that.
01:06Thank you so much, Dr. Carter.
01:08Well, thank you, Essence, for allowing us to be here.
01:10But I am a woman on a pastoral staff.
01:14And I use my gifts and talents really to embolden and to equip women to pursue and understand
01:21their purpose and to fulfill whatever God has placed on the inside of them.
01:26That is so good.
01:29That is it.
01:30Jewel Tanker.
01:30So I'm CEO and founder of the Millionaire's Club.
01:35And I started that club because I had a passion and really want to see women educate themselves
01:39where their money was conserved.
01:41A lot of women would be like, oh, I let my husband handle it.
01:43I'm like, girl, you need to know what's going on with your coin.
01:45So we help to empower them to invest in real estate, gold, silver, cryptocurrency, and really
01:52just making sure that they empower themselves.
01:54Because women, we take care of everybody, parents, grandparents, children.
01:58So we need to have our bag.
01:59Speaking of the bag, speaking of the bag, as a woman of faith, you don't find that you
02:07get in trouble talking about money and investing, especially with the whole prosperity ministry
02:12angle?
02:14I definitely have, but I so don't care because the Bible tells us that a broke man's wisdom
02:18is despised.
02:20Like nobody's listening to your voice if you don't have results.
02:23And we live in a time where people need to see a manifestation of what we say God is.
02:29And who says that the church has to be broke?
02:35What is your word about empowering those around you?
02:39Let me tell you, eight years ago, I went on this whole thing of investing in black and
02:44brown tech founders with a focus on women.
02:48And now we have Rain Ventures, which is a $25 million seed stage investment fund.
02:53And we get to invest in the founders that have constantly been overlooked and also undervalued
03:06is bigger, whether it's financially or just the existence of themselves with the ideas,
03:11just always, always undervalued just in life, period.
03:15Let me ask you a question really quickly.
03:17When you are such a, you know, such an entrepreneur, but you were also involved in, and take this
03:24quickly, you were also involved in launching Empire, you and your significant former other.
03:33And that's another just element of how much you took the power in you to empower somebody
03:40else, you know, to push forward this show.
03:43Talk about that a little bit.
03:44I think that Empire was an amazing opportunity to kind of be on board of the first time ever,
03:50especially on Fox Network, a show that was completely casted by blacks with the leads,
03:59which was super important to me.
04:01But I think most importantly, what was so amazing about it was that I actually got to watch
04:07the world witness so many black actors be empowered, employed, and kind of give that
04:13back to the community so that we can understand what our power, yes, we can be on a network that
04:19doesn't technically have our shows on it.
04:22And we can be number one.
04:23All right.
04:24For seasons to come.
04:26I love it.
04:27Yeah, I love that.
04:28So Pastor Real Talk Kim, you empower a lot of black women specifically, a lot of black
04:35women follow you.
04:35Talk about that.
04:37You know, I believe that God has empowered me, he's anointed me to help women find their
04:43voice.
04:44I think with society and with the church world, they make you think that once you go through
04:48a divorce, you're going to hell on a slip and slide.
04:51You're not on the couture rack anymore.
04:52You're on the clearance rack.
04:54And I've got no voice this weekend because I had 300 women of all shades come together.
05:01We always on the couture rack.
05:03Yes.
05:03And 300 of the women came together this weekend and we are taking our power back, man.
05:10We've got something to talk about.
05:12We've got some oil because a woman can take a licking and keep on taking.
05:17So I'm a hope dealer.
05:18I'm a hope dealer.
05:20But you are not too.
05:22I don't know why she's like you were some other race.
05:26You are black.
05:27Hey, I always say I'm black, but I crack.
05:31You know what?
05:32Well, here's what I love.
05:34I love when you said just because you are divorced does not mean you get put on the clearance
05:40rack.
05:40Because so many times we think that when our husband leaves or we walk out of a relationship,
05:47we have nothing left.
05:48And I know I felt like that.
05:50I had when I was married and my husband decided that he wanted to do his own thing, I felt
05:55like no one was going to want me.
05:57And that's what he told me.
05:58He said, nobody wants a ready-made family because I had a kid.
06:01But guess what?
06:02The kid had another move.
06:04Oh, it just came in the door.
06:07It just came right on in this door.
06:11Dr. Deedee, I want to ask you, you empower women through your ministry.
06:17You know, are you finding that they are taking the lesson and learning it?
06:23Absolutely.
06:23Absolutely.
06:24Because I model what I teach.
06:26And I found out when you model what you teach, you give people an opportunity to see what's
06:31possible for them.
06:33And so anybody can see that I'm living what I teach because I have the fruit of it in my
06:38life, in every area of my life.
06:41And that's not to be braggadocious or anything, but just to know that the word works because
06:46I didn't come up in what I'm living in.
06:49I came up, you know, in poverty, if you will.
06:52I came up in the ghetto, in the hood.
06:54And so I've taken the principles of God's word and I've transformed my life into a model
07:00that God can present to the world and say, hey, opportunities exist for you too if you
07:05would live out, you know, these same principles and follow this model.
07:10And so I've lived my life to just be that model.
07:12I have to tell you, you know, you've been an amazing model because there's four of us
07:17on here who every day get to benefit from you feeding into us and pouring into us.
07:23So thank you.
07:25Not only do you pour into us, you connected us as a group of women.
07:29And now we get to all pour into each other.
07:32So thank you.
07:33Because I think that so many times as leaders in our own industries and what we're doing
07:38every single day, people forget that we're pouring so much into others and that we also
07:44need to be poured into.
07:46So thank you.
07:46I will always love you for that and always take everything you say as the word to me
07:53because it means that much to me.
07:55Me too.
07:56Yeah, me too.
07:58For sure.
07:58We love you.
07:58Weep and willow.
07:59Weep and willow.
08:02Weep and willow.
08:02Shut up.
08:05This is obviously that Monday.
08:08What is the Monday?
08:09What is it called?
08:10It's called menopause.
08:14Okay, I'm not going to laugh because I'm going to get there too.
08:17But listen, Monique, you made a really, really good point.
08:22I'm laughing at her, but I'm tearing up too because I do know that we spend so much time
08:29giving ourselves and people forget and we forget that we need some too.
08:35Every now and then, we get a phone call.
08:38You know, when you're busy empowering other people, sometimes you need somebody to empower.
08:44Yes.
08:45And so that's a good word.
08:47And I tell you, I was empowered by going to your conference.
08:53This is how this show came about.
08:55This was your vision in your belly.
08:57I watched it on stage and I'm like, yes, we need women of faith to talk about real
09:04issues.
09:04And so speaking of dreams, speaking of this being a dream in your heart, I mean, I love
09:09to say I dream in black because, you know, that's what I do.
09:12I'm a black woman.
09:13So I believe in dreaming.
09:14And it teaches us to vision cast.
09:18Without a vision, what does it say?
09:20People perish.
09:20People perish.
09:22Perish.
09:23Let's quickly just talk about our visions and how we've seen God bring it to pass.
09:28And then before we get out of here, I want to take us to a young man who obviously had
09:32a vision following his father.
09:34And now he is the lead of a $200 million film called The Clinic that we're going to watch
09:41the trailer right before we go out.
09:44So let's talk about these visions.
09:46Pastor Kim, I'm going to start with you.
09:49Talk about what?
09:50I love to say.
09:55They suck on tennis.
09:56They suck on tennis.
09:57Let's talk about these visions that we have that inspire us to go after them.
10:04Pastor Kim, I'm going to start with you.
10:06You know what?
10:07I look at just life.
10:09You know, life has a way of, you know, taking us down, do tours that we never dreamed that
10:15we would go down.
10:16And the one thing that I've learned in life, Dr. Holly, is that we can either get pitiful
10:21or we can be powerful through it.
10:23And nobody's going to do it but us.
10:25And it takes a risk.
10:26It takes jumping out in that water.
10:28It takes that thing saying, man, if nobody supports me, I'm going to support myself.
10:33It's believing in yourself so much that you will take back your power, that you will fly.
10:40You'll be saying, God, I'm going to jump.
10:42And you're either going to teach me how to fly or you're going to catch me.
10:46But I'm jumping.
10:48So that's the power that we possess.
10:51And nothing changes until we get there.
10:53And so, man, I feel electrified just knowing that somebody watching today is feeling their
10:59hope coming back.
11:00I wish I was at this point.
11:03It's gone, girl.
11:03You're still giving it to us.
11:05Yeah.
11:05I'm still giving it.
11:06She's giving it.
11:07I'm tearing up.
11:08I love it.
11:10Listen, Jewel, come on.
11:11Talk about how you're pushing that vision out, that dream that you had.
11:15And she's working.
11:17Absolutely.
11:18You know, I think it really started for me when my ex-husband called me one day and
11:22said, I'm not coming back home.
11:23And I just had a beautiful baby girl.
11:25I was faithful to the church.
11:26I was tithing.
11:27And I remember thinking, like, what about child support and all of that?
11:30And I remember Holy Spirit arrested me.
11:32He said, listen, you went from your daddy taking care of you to other men taking care
11:36of you.
11:36I'm going to teach you how to take care of yourself.
11:39And I declared that I would never, ever struggle as a single parent.
11:43And I'm telling you, God found himself true in that.
11:45And so I had mentors in my life that began to walk me through how to develop wealth.
11:50So before my husband, my wonderful, juicy chakra husband came along today, Ben, I was
11:55already living good when I met Ben.
11:58And so I want to know whether you're single, whether you're married, whether you're in the
12:03middle of a divorce, it doesn't matter where you are.
12:05God has a wealth of riches in mind for you.
12:08And you don't have to wait for anybody to come and deliver you.
12:10You can deliver yourself like Kim just said.
12:13And I'm teaching women how to do that.
12:14So my dream really for 2020 is to see 100 multiple millionaires be raised up within
12:21the next six months.
12:22The velocity of money is moving faster than it has ever had.
12:26So we're going to have to take all day to get your coins.
12:28I know that's right.
12:29The shift of power with money is changing right now.
12:34That's right.
12:35Keep on talking, Monique.
12:36It's your turn.
12:37Yes.
12:38You know, I have to tell you, first and foremost, I'm just so thankful and grateful to God.
12:42Because as I look back over my life, everything I have dreamed of, dreamed for, had visions
12:50about, he has made sure I have not only just accomplished it, but been able to keep pivoting
12:56and evolving each time, which I don't know that people understand.
13:01You can be anything and everything you want to be.
13:04We are not just one thing.
13:06We are allowed to be whatever we need to be and dream.
13:11And so for me, just even with chatter, the idea of five faith-based women together in love
13:19with different journeys, different experiences, but can come together and create those solutions
13:25for women like us who, based on our experience, I never thought that I would be a businesswoman
13:31again after getting divorced because I literally didn't know if I could ever come up again from
13:38that.
13:38So listen, here's what I want to say about a dream.
13:43Just because it has been delayed does not mean it has been delayed.
13:49Oh, baby.
13:51That's all I can say.
13:52Good.
13:53That is good.
13:53Delay does not mean denied.
13:56And I thank God for that.
13:59I thank God for that.
14:00And we thank God for Essence giving us this opportunity to just share a little bit with
14:04you on empowering and talking about how to use your gifts to empower others.
14:09And sometimes when you need to just sit back and be empowered.
14:13And so before we leave, we want to leave on a powerful note by a good-looking little old
14:19man.
14:19Good.
14:20Look, this man in the movie is called Tenet.
14:26Yes.
14:30All I have for you is a word.
14:36Tenet.
14:38It'll open the right doors.
14:41Some of the wrong ones, too.
14:43Use it carefully.
14:55To do what I do, I need some idea of the threat we face.
15:01As I understand it, we're trying to prevent World War III.
15:08I'm not saying Armageddon here.
15:10No.
15:12Something worse.
15:13I gather you have an interest in a certain Russian national.
15:21You might just bring me in.
15:24You really want to know?
15:27He can communicate with the future.
15:29Time travel.
15:29Time travel.
15:31No.
15:32Inversion.
15:33No.
15:34Inversion.
15:35Name it and pull the trigger.
15:37You're shooting the bullet.
15:42You're catching it.
15:43Whoa.
15:44Well, I've seen too much.
15:49Well, we'll try and keep up.
15:50You're duty transcends national interests.
15:56This is about survival.
15:59It seems bold.
16:00It seems bold.
16:02Bold, I'm fine, but I thought you were going to say nuts.
16:06This is where our roots collide.
16:11How would you like to die?
16:15Old.
16:16Old.
16:19You chose the wrong profession.
16:28What the hell happened here?
16:30Hasn't happened yet.
16:31There are people in the future who need us.
16:38Why?
16:39Who need a tenant.
16:41We need to save them, here and now.
16:49This reversing the flow of time.
16:53Doesn't us being here now, mean it never happened?
17:00You want to crash a plane?
17:03But not from the air.
17:04No one's so dramatic.
17:07Well, how big a plane?
17:11That part is a little dramatic.
