00:00From taking care of the exterior to understanding the workings of our interior, the pupils of Montrose Government Primary School were treated to an interactive day of health and science thanks to the initiative of the school's PTA.
00:15The students, they have the chance to really talk to experts. So everybody here is an expert in their profession and they bring things in a real way. So we have virtual reality headsets, we have models, we have really good orators explaining their particular fields. And when we do that, it really excites them to see the children really engaged.
00:37So, you know, even one person was giving out Pokemon cards when they got questions correct. So the children are very engaged and excited. Another big part of this science fair are the project aspect. So before the science fair, we would pick certain topics of science and you'll have many like the anatomy.
00:54So this year, if you go around, you'll see a lot of projects on the heart, lungs, different choices of food. So when you go around there, I mean, these projects are really done from first year all year after standard five. And it's, I would say it's almost at a secondary school level.
01:10The fair is now in its second year. And the standard five pupil, Adam Ning Tang, told TV6 News, the experience has been nothing short of wonderful.
01:20What the PTA has done and what the collaboration between the PTA and all the teachers to create this, it shows that learning science and engineering concepts, it shows that it doesn't have to always be dreary and it can be very engaging and fun as well, especially in a day and age where the world is abundant of distractions, such as social media.
01:45It's important so that these students, they have the knowledge base of what makes our world function.
01:53Principal Arifta Sipasad extended thanks to all who made the day possible as she hailed the event a success.
02:00The Ministry of Health, UWE School of Dentistry, UWE Museum, Zoology and Anatomy, Trinidad and Tobago Rest Cross Society, Pediatric Society of Trinidad and Tobago, UWE Physics Department, Trinidad and Tobago Occupational Therapy Association, ABC Pediatrics, Zion's Fitness House and Mango Tree Fitness.
02:28So you all are free to walk around and the children are having a wonderful time.
02:33It's going to benefit the children because we are bringing science to life.
