00:00Election season is officially upon us, and the president is in full campaign mode.
00:05In his continued push to rally voters ahead of the midterms,
00:09he's, well, for lack of a better word, bragging about his tariffs.
00:13In a Wall Street Journal op-ed, Trump gave himself a big presidential pat on the back,
00:17saying that his policy, quote, created an economic miracle.
00:21And he slammed what he said were so-called experts who predicted the failure of his policy,
00:26citing new stock market highs and, in his words, virtually no inflation.
00:30He went on to credit tariffs for a 27% drop in the federal budget deficit
00:34and a 77% drop in the monthly trade deficit.
00:38Now, sticking with the economy here,
00:39the president also made his choice to replace Fed Chair Jerome Powell in May, Kevin Warsh.
00:44You might recall that the president and Powell have been at odds for quite a while now.
00:49During a ritzy D.C. dinner on Friday,
00:51Trump joked that he might sue Warsh if he doesn't slash interest rates.
00:56That's something Powell has been slow to do, much to the displeasure of the president.
01:00Now, after he made the comment, the president told reporters he was just joshing,
01:04quote, it's a roast, it's a comedy.
