Transcript
00:00Hey now with Brandon Lake, no stranger, five-time winner, three-time nominee.
00:04How's that feel walking in the building?
00:05Yeah, crazy. I don't know how this keeps happening.
00:08It's wild.
00:08It is wild, especially when like you're just making music with your buddies
00:13and trying to write songs for your community.
00:16And then when they go global, it's just like, that's something only God can do, you know?
00:21Brandon, do you still get nervous?
00:23Come on, tell the truth.
00:24All the time.
00:25If I'm performing in front of three people, I'm performing in front of 30,000.
00:31If I go up to, I'm nervous to lose, I'm nervous to win.
00:36I'm a pretty nervous person, yeah.
00:38Are you nervous to be standing right here in your red jacket talking to us?
00:41No, because y'all are so cool.
00:44You just made me feel so calm and, yeah, it feels like family.
00:47Well, we appreciate that.
00:48And speaking of family, you have a lot of cool friends as well.
00:50Like Thomas Red just shared on IG, you know, he said you guys have been working on something.
00:54So what can you tell us about that?
00:55I just held one of the biggest songwriting camps in Nashville.
01:00I just wanted to bless the country, industry, at least the people that I know would show up,
01:06that I've, like, struck up friendships with.
01:08Laney Wilson, Thomas Rhett, Hardy showed up.
01:11I'm a huge fan of Hardy.
01:13Bailey Zimmerman's become a bro.
01:15So all these people showed up, over 25 artists and songwriters.
01:19And I'm working on my next record, which is going to be a lot of country, a lot of what I've already done, mixed together, a lot of collaborations.
01:25And so that, for me, is what means the most, is the relationships.
01:32And literally, TR and I, we've gone on the phone so many times, and it's, like, two hours later, and we just talked about life.
01:38And it makes me a better man.
01:41And then one thing you talked about, Laney, one thing I love about that woman is how honest she is.
01:45So I want to talk about, like, coming to stuff like this.
01:47We always laugh about, like, being in Hollywood and being out of the country scene.
01:51So what's it like being at the Grammys and in L.A.?
01:55It's wild.
01:56Be honest with you.
01:59I love both ends of the spectrum of, like, being out in the woods, and it's totally silent.
02:06And then I love the loud and, I mean, it's kind of like a picture of my outfit right now.
02:11I got denim jeans on, but then, you know, I tried to get snazzy with wearing a red carpet jacket, you know?
02:16So for me, it's really fun, you know?
02:19I've been writing all week while I'm here, and then going to, like, the Grammy parties at night.
02:23And that's, like, kind of the, it's a good picture of both things, you know?
02:29Celebrating, creating, and, yeah, being with the best people.
02:33Well, good luck tonight, my friend.
02:34Well, good luck tonight.
02:35It's been a pleasure to have you.
02:37I hope you keep that balance of wild and calm all week long.
02:42Yeah, I will.
02:43It's who I am, so I can't help it.
02:44Thanks, Brandon.
02:45Yeah.
02:46Thank y'all so much.
