00:46Hello, welcome to From the South. I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Dele Sur Studios in Havana, Cuba. We'll begin with the news.
01:05Governments, social and political organizations and peoples around the world have expressed strong support for Cuba and its right to defend its sovereignty and national security in the face of aggressive escalation by the United States.
01:15Leaders from the BRICS nations, the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of America and several members of the non-aligned movement have reiterated that Cuba does not pose a threat to any country.
01:24They warned that the true source of tensions comes from Washington's aggressive policies.
01:29Also political and social organizations, human rights and peace movements, as well as indigenous groups, affirm that Cuba remains a symbol of resistance, dignity and anti-imperialist solidarity.
01:38They stress that far from being a danger to the world, the island faces threats primarily from persistent U.S. harassment and pressure, particularly under the Trump administration's agenda.
01:50More than 30 political and social organizations in the Dominican Republic denounced the escalation of U.S. blockade against Cuba.
02:01In a joint statement, the organizations denounced Washington's threats to impose additional tariffs on products from countries that supply oil to the Caribbean island.
02:10Activists point out that this position aims to return the country to the days of European colonialism in the Caribbean, where they stripped and plundered the territories with violence and death.
02:19The organizations emphasize that this act constitutes a measure of coercion and aggression aimed at imposing political obedience through hunger, darkness and the paralyzation of essential services.
02:34And in Cuba, President Miguel Díaz-Canel participated in a tactical exercise as part of the third National Defense Day in January.
02:42The defensive exercise focused on preparing the military theater of operations with the participation of members of production and defense brigades and other areas.
02:50In this context, President Díaz-Canel also recalled one of the main concepts of the war strategy of the whole people, which is that every Cuban has a role, a place and a means in the defense.
03:00Moreover, members of the political bureau were also present at the activities supporting the concept of the war of the entire people.
03:07And in Mexico, the government assured that it will not stop sending humanitarian aid to Cuba, ratifying its policy of sovereignty and international cooperation.
03:19The position was confirmed by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Juan Ramón de la Fuente, during the Morena Party's plenary meeting in the Chamber of Deputies.
03:27In this context, the foreign minister defended the right of peoples to receive solidarity in times of need.
03:32Moreover, de la Fuente declared that Mexico does not accept the prohibition of humanitarian aid to any country and emphasized that his nation will continue to exercise this principle independently without submitting to external pressures.
03:44This segment comes in the context of the intensification of the economic blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for more than six decades.
03:51We do not accept that there is no humanitarian aid when any country in the world requires it and we will continue to exercise this because it is also the mechanism that allows us to keep the dialogue alive and the mechanism that allows us to send the message to the peoples who require it.
04:18Mexico will always do everything in its power to ensure that humanitarian aid arrives when it is needed, as we have already demonstrated in the past.
04:31Some natural events have created complex situations in our country. Humanitarian aid has always been the president's first instruction and the first to arrive. What happens in Mexico and helps us, we want to happen everywhere.
04:49And Haiti is experiencing an alarming spike in cases of sexual violence committed by criminal groups and guns exacerbating the crisis currently facing the Caribbean nation.
05:02According to a report provided by the humanitarian organization Met Sanson Frontier, a boring increase in violence has been revealed in the island's capital for the Prince with 57% of total sexual assaults committed by armed guns.
05:16In this regard, the organization alert of a tripling of cases going from 95 monthly in 2021 to more than 250 in 2025.
05:25Met Sanson Frontier states that among the main consequences are the crisis, the first displacement of 1.4 million people and the acquisition of power by criminal groups while calling on the international community to take concrete measures to protect the people.

10:00Over the past month, thousands of federal agents, many of them masked, have carried out multiple raids across Minnesota, prompting widespread protests that intensified after the death of two individuals at the hands of federal agents.

14:17These attacks took place while a peace process for Gaza was underway.
