Following an outbreak in India that has left two people dead, Taiwan’s Centers for Disease Control has classified Nipah virus as a Category 5 infectious disease, the most serious category. The new designation takes effect in March and will enable the CDC to impose tighter controls to prevent the spread of the virus.
