00:00Students in the Los Angeles area reportedly walked out of class to protest against ICE
00:06and immigration raids, carrying placards reading We Are All René Good and ICE Out and Out.
00:14The students' demonstrations were part of a nationwide strike calling for no work, no
00:18school, no shopping to oppose the Trump administration's immigration crackdown.
00:22Rallies are taking place amid widespread outrage over the killing of intensive care nurse Alex
00:27Brady. Some schools in Arizona, Colorado and other states preventively cancel classes in
00:33anticipation of mass absences, while numerous businesses announced they would be closed during
00:39the so-called Friday's blackout.
00:43Meanwhile, students at Colleen Hills High School in St. Wenny, Georgia, also walk out on Friday
00:52as part of the U.S. national war strike against ICE's recent anti-immigrant operations.
00:58I have seen so much stuff online and seeing how it's affecting my friends, and for years
01:06I have felt powerless and seeing other schools in the county being able to do this, I wanted
01:10to do something. I wanted to do a change. I wanted to help start something. So me with
01:15a group of people, we started something and we just wanted change and we really, really
01:21hope that this can impact the people that are getting murdered and abused and kidnapped and
01:27all the families being ripped apart and just everything.
01:30I think that it's really important when you're not affected by something to still stand up
01:33for what you know is right and we all came together to decide that we weren't going to sit here
01:39and let everything that's happening just happen and pass us by.
01:42No more ICE! No more ICE! No more ICE! No more ICE! No more ICE!
01:48They said that we could be suspended. They said that we had communication with them a lot
01:55and they ended up somewhat coming around to a decision that if we stay with their rules
02:01of staying on school grounds and staying on the sidewalks that we could do it.
02:05But before they gave us permission we still knew that things have to be done at the end of the day.
