00:30tried to prevent action being taken against his factory for multiple violations
00:35under the Environmental Quality Act.
00:37The factory was operating without a proper
00:40premises license, lacked written permission from the Director General, and had no environmental
00:45impact assessment approval.
00:47Authorities also found scheduled waste
00:50being stored at the non-designated premises.
00:53The charge was made under Section 6
00:55of the M.A.C.C. Act 2009, punishable under
01:00Section 24, Subsection 1 of the same Act.
01:04If convicted,
01:05Tan faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of at least five times the bribe amount
01:10or RM10,000, whichever is higher.
01:13The prosecution requested bail between
01:15RM10,000 and RM15,000, with conditions including reporting to the M.A.C.C.
01:20surrendering his passport and not interfering with witnesses.
01:25Tan's lawyer requested bail be reduced to RM5,000.
01:28The court set bail at RM10,000.
