00:00Did you hear that?
00:05Oh, thanks.
00:10The curtain just moved on this episode of Expedition.
00:15X. Wow, that thing is massive.
00:18My team boards the USS Hornet.
00:20One of America's most decorated warships.
00:23That's also said to be one of...
00:25One of its most haunted.
00:27Oh!
00:28What was that?
00:30Eyewitnesses claim a paranormal battle is taking place.
00:35Here's all this spiritual traffic that make this ship more of a beacon.
00:40Things that don't belong here.
00:42Are the spirits of its fallen sailors...
00:45Still protecting this ship, even in death.
00:48She's in need of medical...
00:50...with medical attention on her right arm.
00:53Right arm!
00:56Phil and Heather will go to war...
00:58Oh, boy.
00:59...with the hor...
01:00...with the horrors of the Hornet.
01:02Oh!
01:03What the...
01:05Oh!
01:06Oh!
01:07Oh!
01:08Oh!
01:09Oh!
01:10Oh!
01:11Oh!
01:12Oh!
01:13Oh!
01:14Oh!
01:15Oh!
01:16Alright, guys.
01:17How do we feel about boats?
01:18I feel great about boats.
01:19As long as they float.
01:20Am I gonna need Dramamine?
01:21What are we talking about here?
01:22No Dramamine.
01:23But we need to pack all our paranormal...
01:25...gear.
01:26I have a lead on an amazing paranormal hotspot...
01:28...that has slithering shadow figures.
01:30...with disembodied voices.
01:31People even report being choked there.
01:33And a whole heck of a lot more.
01:34So...
01:35...ghosts on a boat?
01:36Well...
01:37...a ship.
01:38And that ship is the USS Hornet.
01:40It's a decommissioned aircraft carrier that's more than San Francisco Bay.
01:43And it saw a ton of action.
01:45...during World War II.
01:46And the people that maintain it today...
01:48...say that it's still fully crewed.
01:50...with spirits.
01:51Ooh.
01:52First of all, excellent naval knowledge, Heather.
01:54And the U.S.
01:55The USS Hornet is a ship indeed.
01:57It has one of the most famous lineages of the whole U.S.
02:00fleet.
02:01And considering all of the action that it saw...
02:03...and all of the blood spilled...
02:05...I can certainly see how the USS Hornet may have gone from glory...
02:09...to ghost story.
02:10Which doings were again last year?
02:11Which did IWith the를ogethers?
02:12Now bunny play.
02:13In the Japanese court, too?
02:14Beetily useful?
02:15Cool 3Rcn.
02:16In Playstation 3R Titan.
02:17In Haitian, for example, it was the one I saw here that it was Wii-likely station once on a radio.
02:19The Navy team came out to fly out in a что-are there's 63rd aircraft carrier that corpus it's dangerous.
02:20It was really good, it couldn't be near the USS Hornet.
02:35Just wrapped in my tank.
02:37So if you're not with them, you can accidentally head.
02:39a barber shop, even a jail. It isn't just a warship, it's a
02:44floating city of steel, home to 4,000 crewmen, along with a
02:49100 fighter planes and dive bombers.
02:54During the following 16 months of continuous furious combat, the
02:59Hornet plays a pivotal role in the Battles of Leyte Gulf.
03:04Uwojima and Okinawa. Its air group shreds Japanese.
03:09fighter planes, knocking 668 enemy aircraft out of the sky.
03:14And blowing up another 742.
03:19Uwojima and Okinawa.
03:21Meanwhile, her Avenger torpedo bombers
03:24send 73 ships to watery graves.
03:29The Hornet dodges torpedoes and endure
03:34constant strafing runs, plus kamikaze attacks.
03:39Many of her brave crew will die.
03:42Pilots launching fear.
03:44The Hornet dodges fearlessly into battle, never to return.
03:48While on deck.
03:49crewmen succumb to shrapnel and bullet wounds.
03:54all told, more than 300 crew die on
03:59the ship, with another 50 airmen killed in action.
04:04After bringing home hundreds of wounded soldiers at the conflict's end, the warship is at
04:09time.
04:10The Hornet was eventually decommissioned in 1970.
04:13In the late 90s.
04:14In the late 90s.
04:14The Hornet is saved from the scrapyard, and transformed into a floating ship.
04:19Fearing ice Göring hell outwards,
04:21Royal Jet Episode겠습니다 Wanting museum.
04:22More in Alameda.
04:23California.
04:25Almost immediately.
04:32kid in salt got an Ganke
04:36corridors. The activity only seems to be increasing, with many guides convinced there
04:41are more than just the spirits of former sailors on board.
04:46There are
04:46repeated sightings of a terrifying crawling figure near the Admiral's quarters.
04:51And claims of an entity that chokes visitors in an area known as the Folk
04:56Asil. Has the Hornet's crew really returned to duty for one last war?
05:01And are the living the enemy?
05:06Okay, so, what do you think?
05:11So, my grandfather served in the Pacific on the USS Mantras. His stories really stayed with me.
05:16It's not a stretch at all to think that the energies of those that served and died on the Hornet
05:21are still imprinted on it somehow today.
05:23And you know, it's the imprint that I'm interested in too.
05:26But in a different sense of the word because think about this is a vast metal construction that has
05:31been imprinted or degraded by age and war. So, it seems like...
05:36people who visit there could easily be overwhelmed by this unusual cluster
05:41phobic space and its history. So, maybe it's not ghosts they're experiencing, but...
05:46the atmosphere.
05:47Okay, so a not-so-ship-shape ship, Phil.
05:50Yeah.
05:51Alright, so look, whether it's the environment or what happened in that environment...
05:56that's what you have to find out. So, calibrate your latitude and longitude and plot a course for the...
06:01USS Hornet to discover if she has truly been boarded by spirits.
06:06I can.
06:07Dismissed.
06:08Dismissed.
06:09Dismissed.
06:11Dismissed.
06:12After a six-hour flight from New York to San Francisco, Phil and Heather take...
06:16back to the water, charting a course for the USS Hornet.
06:21Dismissed.
06:22Is that it?
06:23Dismissed.
06:24Dismissed.
06:25Is that it?
06:26Dismissed.
06:27Dismissed.
06:28That thing...
06:29Dismissed.
06:30Dismissed.
06:31We've arranged to
06:36meet with the ship's docents,
06:38Tracy Newby, Faye Navarro, Heidi Chavez,
06:41and Chris Chavez.
06:43Between the four of them, they've spent over 50 years
06:46working on the USS Hornet.
06:49Lovely to meet y'all.
06:50Well, this is incredible.
06:51So this is the hangar.
06:52Yes.
06:53We did our best researching this ship before we got here.
06:55It has a long...
06:56decorated history.
06:58So I just want to get right to it.
07:00Do you think the USS Hornet...
07:01is haunted?
07:03Yes.
07:04Why?
07:04Some of us have been touched in ways we can't...
07:06explain.
07:07I was working in security at the time,
07:09and we had reports of some teenagers.
07:11messing around in the fo'c's hole
07:14where the anchor chains are.
07:15And I would go up and check...
07:16check it out.
07:18And as I was climbing up the ladder,
07:20I felt a constriction around my throat.
07:21When you say constriction,
07:23do you mean it just...
07:24it felt kind of tight in your throat?
07:26No, I felt like...
07:26someone or something was choking me.
07:28Like there was a rope around my neck.
07:30Woof!
07:31I experienced something...
07:31kind of creepy.
07:32We were up in the Admiral's Quarters.
07:34And I was looking down the passageway,
07:36and I kept seeing...
07:36with someone peering out...
07:38out of this one opening.
07:39And then I saw like a hand...
07:41another hand.
07:41a head peer out,
07:43and I'm just staring at this thing.
07:45I just looked like a person on the door.
07:46just a shadow crawling across the floor.
07:49And then vanished.
07:51That's crazy.
07:51That's creepy.
07:52Wow.
07:53We have so many people
07:54that experience the crawling spirit,
07:56so that...
07:56that's what we call it,
07:57the crawler.
08:00So the USS Warner is a huge...
08:01huge ship.
08:03Where else should we look into?
08:05Sickbay.
08:05I've seen actual poltergeists...
08:06activity down there.
08:08The pharmacy closet door...
08:09was opening and shutting.
08:10Oh!
08:11Oh!
08:11Violently by itself.
08:16And I just stood there.
08:16in shock.
08:18That was crazy.
08:21So also in...
08:21sickbay,
08:22sometimes people will lay
08:24on the operating table.
08:26And I had some...
08:26someone actually do it
08:27and ask for help.
08:29Like, hey, I need help.
08:30Grab my leg.
08:31And you can actually see...
08:31an imprint of a hand
08:33on the sweats.
08:34You think that's a ghost medic
08:36going to help that person?
08:36I say so, yeah.
08:38Wow.
08:39Anybody else had encounters
08:40that they can't explain?
08:41I've seen...
08:43full-body decorations
08:44of, like, men in uniforms
08:45walk into walls.
08:46Many years ago,
08:48when I first started working here,
08:49I took a picture
08:50of the Admiral's Bridge.
08:51I've actually caught
08:52a ghost in a photograph.
08:54Do you have the photo?
08:55It's right here.
08:57Wow.
08:59You're telling me
09:00there was no one there.
09:01Not when I took that...
09:01It looks a lot like
09:03Admiral Joseph Jaco Clark,
09:05who was here in 1944.
09:06Admiral Jaco Clark?
09:08Yes, that is who I think it is.
09:10And he was actually
09:10really beloved among...
09:11the crew.
09:12When he got here,
09:13one of our captains
09:14was Captain Broeing.
09:16Two guys fell over...
09:16aboard, and he didn't turn
09:17around the ship
09:18to get them.
09:19And Clark was actually
09:20the one that reprimanded...
09:21him and got him removed.
09:23That's why the men
09:24really followed him well.
09:25Admiral Jaco Clark is...
09:26one of the legendary spirits
09:28of this ship.
09:29And we believe
09:29he's still here with us.
09:31I think he's still in...
09:31It's a remarkable photo.
09:34Well, thank you all so much.
09:35We've got a lot to do.
09:36First...
09:36Outfly Dick.
09:37Heck yeah.
09:38Okay.
09:38Thanks.
09:39Bye.
09:39Good luck.
09:41Heather wants to check out
09:42reports of the sinister entity
09:44known as the Crawler
09:45near the Admiral's Corps...
09:46on the O2 deck.
09:48I'm planning to head
09:49to the fo'c'sle
09:50on the O1 deck
09:51to a new...
09:51investigate Tracy's claim
09:53of being choked.
09:54But first,
09:55we both ascend to the flight...
09:56deck to try and replicate
09:58the ghostly photo
09:59Heidi took of the bridge.
10:01Wow.
10:02Wow.
10:03Look at this place.
10:05Oh, my God.
10:06It's incredible.
10:09Link, can you imagine
10:10the action enemy flying on...
10:11overhead, planes zipping
10:13off the runway here.
10:15See that up there?
10:16That looks...
10:16familiar?
10:17Oh, yeah.
10:18That's where the picture
10:18was taken.
10:19Exactly.
10:20Can you set up a camera
10:21to match the...
10:21angle of her image?
10:22I want to head up there
10:23and see if I can
10:24recreate that figure.
10:25You don't want it.
10:26Okay, copy that.
10:26Okay.
10:31I feel I am set I've got the camera looking at those one
10:36windows
10:37Gabi can you see me up here right now?
10:39yeah for sure
10:40ok does it look like I'm in a
10:41similar position
10:42well you look shorter I mean the top of the head is almost at the top of the
10:46window frame
10:47I'm standing up on this does that look better?
10:49that looks better the right arm
10:51is extended past the window pane to your right
10:54like so?
10:56yeah that's much better
10:57keep it running taking photos every 10-15
11:01seconds and I'm going to play with the light and see what I can come up with
11:04copy that
11:05Emily the camera running
11:06and I'm going to start investigating
11:07so it's hard to tell right now but I'll tell you
11:11there is the sunset
11:12now this ship has a lot of reflective surfaces so what I'm
11:16wondering is maybe what she saw isn't a ghost but a glare so
11:21I'm going to start shining this thing
11:23see what you can come up with
11:24that camera should be taking photos
11:26about every 5 seconds so I'm just going to hold this here
11:295
11:31you can see right here this light is bouncing off this
11:36surface
11:39you
11:41I think I've bounced the light around here enough
11:44I'm going to keep that camera running
11:46and see what else shows up here tonight
11:51you
11:56Oh wow, look at this!
12:01I got Max LS, it'll detect any...
12:06Unusual entities.
12:11I'm also gonna do an EVP session.
12:16My name is Heather, and I just want to understand what...
12:21What's going on?
12:24If you get close to this EMF meter, if you make it go off...
12:26I'll consider that a yes.
12:29Is there anyone here with me?
12:30Yep, yep!
12:31Yep, yep, yep.
12:32Okay, alright.
12:35Admiral Jocko.
12:36Is that who's sitting at the head of this table?
12:41Right now, it feels as though you are...
12:47Right here with us.
12:48Yes.
12:49Yes.
12:50Yes.
12:51Big yes!
12:51Okay!
12:52I don't have you on the XLS.
12:53If you could show up on the XLS, that would be...
12:56Awesome.
12:58Oh, oh, oh!
12:59Oh boy, okay.
13:01Alright.
13:02Damn!

13:20Okay, alright
13:23Okay
13:25Is there something evil attracted to the USA?
13:28Says Hornet
13:31Yes
13:33Is the Crawler one of the evil spirits?
13:37Yes
13:38Right here
13:41Was where Faye was sitting
13:43When she saw the crawler through this doorway
13:48Is the crawler here with me right now?
13:50Is the crawler here with me right now?
13:53Yes

14:53He was being choked and off I go test out this feeling on the way up.
14:58There we go.
15:03Didn't feel like I was being choked.
15:08Oh!
15:13Did you hear that? Yeah, that was a scream
15:18Oh, Heather, you good? You good?
15:23Come on. Heather, do you copy? Are you okay?
15:28I'm not getting on a walk here. I think I just can't reach this
15:33to the ship. Let's see if we can figure out what there was
15:38Make sure she's alright
15:43Thank you
15:48Thank you
15:53Thank you
15:58I searched the passageways all around the foc'sle for the source of the scream but find nothing
16:03Eventually, I end up back in Heather's walkie range
16:06Heather, do you copy?
16:08Yeah, I copy. What's up?
16:10Finally. Are you guys okay?
16:11I've gotten a lot of activity up here
16:13But yeah, we're all okay
16:15I heard someone yell like they just got in
16:18That's wild
16:20We need to regroup. Let's meet in the six bay
16:22Okay, I'll see you
16:23I'll see you there
16:28Hey
16:30You tell me you didn't hear that. Everyone's good
16:32No, everyone's good
16:33Everyone is good. You said you heard someone screaming in pain?
16:36Yeah, that's what it sounded like
16:37And when the U.S.
16:38Hornet was in action
16:39There would probably be a lot of injured screaming for help
16:43And sick bay
16:44Right
16:48Wow
16:50Wow
16:52Wow, that's right
16:53Oh wow
16:55Look at this
16:56Oh wow
16:57Look at this
16:58The story about the pharmacy
16:59Is that it?
17:00This is it
17:01The pharmacy closet door was opening
17:03And shutting violently
17:04By itself
17:05Back here
17:07Back here
17:08This must be the closet door she said
17:10Open and closed
17:11Oh yeah
17:12Let's go
17:13See if we can get some activity
17:14Okay
17:17Okay
17:18We heard that that door can open and shut
17:21Can you close that door?
17:23Are we trying to get some medicine in there?
17:26Are we trying to get some medicine in there?
17:28Yes
17:29Yes, okay
17:32Look at that
17:33Doors moving
17:34Oh it is
17:35Doors moving
17:36Doors moving
17:37Door is
17:38Doors moving
17:41Were you trying to shut us out?
17:42Doors moving
17:43Were you trying to shut us out?
17:43That was crazy
17:45That was crazy
17:48Are you hiding behind the door?
17:52Are you hiding behind the door?
17:53There's nothing there that should be making it go off
17:56There's nothing there that should be making it go off
17:58There's nothing there that should be making it go off
18:03There's nothing there that should be making it go off
18:04There's nothing there that should be making it go off
18:05Yeah
18:08There's nothing there that should be making it go off
18:10Oh
18:11I thought I just saw something on
18:13The ground over here
18:15I swear out of the corner of my eye
18:17It looked like there was someone
18:18Right there
18:19Crawling
18:21I don't know it might have been a reflection of
18:23The light
18:24And just my eye planet trick on me
18:25But it looked like there was someone down there
18:28What?
18:30I just saw a shadow
18:33I just dart
18:34The hallway over here
18:35Down here?
18:36It went in here
18:39Heather
18:40This is the surgical suite
18:42Oh my God
18:44I'm telling you
18:45Whatever I just saw
18:46darted into this room
18:47What?
18:48This is an original operating room
18:51Remember what Faye said
18:52She's brought guests
18:53In here that have laid on this gurney
18:54And felt a medic's hands on them
18:56She even saw the imprint of a hand
18:58Well, supposedly
18:59Sure
19:00I want to test it out
19:01But I want to borrow from the
19:03Test this method
19:04Okay
19:05Here's what I'm thinking
19:06You communicate with the medic
19:07And I'm the patient
19:08I'll lay down on this gurney
19:09With noise cancelling headphones
19:11Blindfold on
19:12And
19:13Let's see if I feel anything
19:14Okay
19:15So you want me to tell the medic
19:17What's wrong with you?
19:18It's gonna be a long lesson
19:19Okay, rude
19:20Okay
19:21Let's give it a shot
19:23I
19:25Here are the headphones
19:27Once you put
19:28them on
19:29I'll tap you once
19:30That says
19:31We've started
19:32Once we're done
19:33And I'll tap you twice
19:34On the shore
19:35Okay
19:36All right
19:37Can you hear me?
19:38There's a spider on your shoulder
19:39Look at that
19:41Heather's spider
19:43All right
19:44That didn't get her
19:45I think it's working
19:48If
19:53There is a medic
19:54In here
19:55This is Heather
19:56She has a fractured foot
19:57Can you assist?

20:26What?
20:31Bro.
20:32What?
20:33Bro, it felt like two fingertips going down my arm.
20:34No.
20:35Like a feather.
20:36Are you messing with me?
20:37No.
20:38I said fracture on her right arm.
20:40Did it feel a .
20:41Aggressive?
20:42No.
20:43It was a gentle touch.
20:44What do you do with that information?
20:45It's our next step.
20:46I think the next step is spending the night on the ship and putting ourselves in that
20:50vulnerable position.
20:51I saw some bunks down the hall within the sick bay.
20:54So I'll take down here.
20:56You take the stateroom?
20:57We'll see how long we last.
20:58Okay.
20:59Bye.
21:00Bye.
21:01With Phil hunkering down in one of the sick bay bunks.
21:04I head up to a stateroom on the O2 level where shadow figures have been reported.
21:08We both set up rim.
21:10I'm the host of Foxy.
21:11This is the Andcheron.
21:13Not again.
21:14We'll be back.
21:15See you next week.
21:16Bye bye.
21:17Okay, thanks.
21:18I'm June.
21:19Bye bye.
21:20Bye bye.
21:21Bye bye.
21:22Bye bye.

21:30Bye bye.
21:31Bye bye.
21:37Oh!
21:41What?
21:42What was that?
21:46Rumpa's cool.
21:47I'm awfully crazy.
21:49Heather, wake up.
21:50Wake up.
21:51Phil?
21:52Come on.
21:52There's something about this sickbay, Heather.
21:54You need to get over here.
21:55Copy that.
21:56I'm on the way.
21:57Hey.
22:02Hi.
22:03What happened?
22:04I don't know.
22:05I was sleeping.
22:07Really?
22:07Is that right here?
22:08Whoa.
22:09Is that right here?
22:11Whoa.
22:12Is that right here from our movement?
22:15No, it's not.
22:17Did you hear that?
22:19Did you hear that?
22:22What did you hear?
22:23It was like a knock.
22:25I don't know.
22:27All right.
22:28Find me as I do.
22:32Back here?
22:33Yeah.
22:38Yeah.
23:04Yeah.
22:42Oh!
22:45Oh!
22:46Oh!
22:47No!
22:50That curtain just...
22:52Moved.
22:54Heather, there's no one there.
22:56I should...
22:57I wish I had ten years go off of my life.
23:02I have goosebumps right now.
23:07That was crazy.
23:09Phil.
23:11It was right here.
23:12You saw it, right?
23:13Yeah.
23:14It was like the curtain just did...
23:16that.
23:17It was like someone was getting out of bed.
23:19How did that happen, Heather?
23:21I'll get...
23:22I'll give you one reason.
23:24That was really, really spooky.
23:27Okay?
23:28Okay?
23:33I don't see anything.
23:36Nothing.
23:37All right.
23:39Nothing back here.
23:40I have no explanation for how that happened.
23:42How did that happen?
23:43How did that happen?
23:47After night, I'm not eager.
23:52to repeat.
23:53I want to learn more about the history of the Hornet.
23:56Bruce Douglas...
23:57Bruce Douglas knows this ship better than anyone,
23:59because he served on board in the 1960s.
24:02This room is in...
24:07incredible.
24:08Where are we right now?
24:09This is Combat Information Center, CIC for short.
24:12It's like the nerve center of the ship.
24:14Here they keep track of everything that's going on around the ship.
24:16Underwater...
24:17Underwater...
24:18On the surface and in the air.
24:19Unbelievable.
24:20And you actually served on this ship?
24:22During the Vietnam War.
24:23Yes, I was on board from late 1968 through decommissioning in 1970.
24:27Well, thank you for your service.
24:29And I got to know, the USS Hornet has gained a reputation.
24:32as being a very haunted ship.
24:35Yes.
24:36Do you think what...
24:37most people hear and assume are ghosts is really just an old ship...
24:42thinking and moaning a little bit.
24:43That would be plausible.
24:45But as far as actual voices and footsteps...
24:47I can't explain those.
24:49Are there any stories?
24:52that stand out to you?
24:53That you say, well, that one I can't explain.
24:55One story in particular, one...
24:57one of the ladies that works on the ship that I know...
24:59she was down in...
25:01after...
25:02the auxiliary.
25:03It's very near the bottom of the ship.
25:04It's below the waterline.
25:05An area that's not open to the public.
25:07And she heard a growling noise down there.
25:12A growling noise.
25:15That's how she described it.
25:17Yes.
25:18It really affected her.
25:19It really made an impression on her.
25:20So it scared her.
25:21It did stick with her, yes.
25:22But there's nothing in there that functions anymore...
25:24that would even move at all...
25:25that might cause a growling noise.
25:27If I wanted to look into this growling noise...
25:29in the aft auxiliary...
25:30how would I get down there?
25:31It's...
25:32probably pretty close to the bottom of the ship.
25:34You'd have to go down an elevator shaft.
25:36The elevator no longer...
25:37it works.
25:38You'd have to have a rope and rappel down.
25:39Okay.
25:40But don't look down.
25:42Noted.
25:46I've arranged...
25:47to meet with docent Stacy Mine.
25:49Well, I can't wait to chat.
25:51She leads night towards...
25:52to the ship and believes she's encountered...
25:54terrifying paranormal activity.
25:56Tell me about the...
25:57the most intense experience you've ever had on the ship.
25:59So this was the O2 ready room.
26:01The pilot...
26:02the pilots would...
26:03get their briefings...
26:04and...
26:05one of the guests called out.
26:06I...
26:07I see a shadow figure...
26:08in the passageway.
26:09I see a shadow figure...
26:10in the passageway.
26:12So...
26:12as I went out into the passageway...
26:13I looked towards the back of the ship...
26:15and in my face...
26:16was a shadow figure.
26:17approaching.
26:20Got out of the way...
26:21just in time.
26:22push...
26:23and then disappeared.
26:24Down the hall...
26:25male...
26:26slender...
26:27moving...
26:27with a purpose.
26:28Were you scared?
26:29I was startled.
26:30That was a first for me.
26:31That's incredible.
26:32As we...
26:33continue to investigate...
26:34where would you recommend we go?
26:36The O2...
26:37ready room...
26:38in Radio Central.
26:39Okay.
26:40So what was Radio Central used for?
26:41So...
26:42that was the communication nexus...
26:43for the ship.
26:44And if you're fighting a war...
26:46that had...
26:47to be the most...
26:48protective place...
26:49on the entire ship.
26:50Absolutely.
26:51Why...
26:52is this...
26:52so active?
26:53There is a...
26:54constellation...
26:55of things...
26:56that make this...
26:57partnership.
26:58We...
26:59we say it's a portal.
27:00I think it's more of a beacon.
27:01We're in salt water.
27:02We're in a fault line.
27:04And...
27:05there's...
27:06the antennas...
27:07up above.
27:07The antennas still work?
27:08Some of them still do.
27:09Okay.
27:10They're still connected.
27:11So...
27:12here's...
27:12all this...
27:13spiritual traffic...
27:14coming in.
27:15You know...
27:16good, bad, and different.
27:17Things that don't belong here...
27:18find the beacon...
27:19and come in.
27:20But...
27:21the sailors...
27:22they will always protect...
27:23they will always guard...
27:24the ship.
27:25So the spirits of sailors...
27:26on this ship...
27:27kick off any entities...
27:28that don't belong.
27:29They're...
27:30fighting a war.
27:31Ultimately, yes.
27:32they're guardians.
27:33And...
27:34the job is never done...
27:35protecting the ship.
27:37The idea that the spirits of the sailors...
27:41are protecting the ship...
27:42from something far darker...
27:43really resonates with me.
27:45With that in mind...
27:46Phil and I...
27:47split up to try and prove...
27:48what's happening...
27:49on the Hornet.
27:50I head up to the ready room...
27:51on the O2...
27:52deck...
27:53where Stacy had her disturbing...
27:54shadow figure encounter.
27:56Meanwhile...
27:57Phil gets ready...
27:58to rappel down...
27:59the elevator shaft...
28:00leading to the aft...
28:01auxiliary deck...
28:02investigating...
28:02with strange growls...
28:03heard deep...
28:04within the ship.
28:05Mom's away.
28:07We'll aim to meet back up...
28:11at the radio room...
28:12at midnight...
28:12where I want to harness...
28:13the power of the ship's antenna...
28:14as a paranormal beacon.
28:17Okay...
28:18just another day...
28:19on the job, huh?
28:22So...
28:23it's about 70 feet down...
28:26It's a heck of a drop down...
28:27there.
28:32bit of a drop.
28:35.
28:37Oh
28:42Oh
28:46Okay
28:47That was a little scary
28:52I'm about to enter an area of the ship that has been closed off
28:57For a quarter while so I have no idea what I'm up against
29:02But it is now time to enter the belly of the beast
29:07Oh
29:09Oh
29:11Oh
29:12There we go
29:16Oh
29:17Oh
29:22Oh
29:26Oh
29:27So this is aft oxygen.
29:32This is where coordinator Bruce, someone down in here.
29:37Heard what sounded like a growl.
29:42Want me to get out the flare?
29:47So most of this room looks pretty cool.
29:52What is that?
29:54Getting some heat signature.
29:58Off these pipes here.
30:01Yeah.
30:02I feel a little bit out of breath.
30:04Got to check the air quality.
30:08Oxygen levels are good.
30:11Carbon monoxide levels are good.
30:12It could be better.
30:13The way it can affect you at those low doses is making you
30:17dizzy, confused, possibly see things and maybe even hear things.
30:22Numbers are going up.
30:23I don't want to spend too much time down here.
30:25So, yeah.
30:27Got to make this quick.
30:32Go.
30:33Go.
30:34Go.
30:37Stacy was in the ready room.
30:42When one of her guests saw a shadow figure cross by, this is
30:47where the pilots would have gotten their mission briefings
30:49before taking off into action.
30:51A lot of those pilots...
30:52never returned from those missions.
30:57But they would have had to wait sometimes for hours in this spot, so...
31:02I brought some trigger objects to see if I can spark any activity.
31:05We've got 1940s playing...
31:07...parks issued by the U.S. Navy.
31:091940s dominoes because they needed activities to pass...
31:12...because they're done.
31:15This is a motion-activated...
31:17...a record player.
31:18Anything gets anywhere near to it, it's going to start playing a record.
31:22And if I mess it up, I'd like to jump to it.
31:23And if I to come back to the airport...
31:24... then I can take an instant...
31:25...well, I'm not going to go ahead and do this, it's going to take it.
31:26But I can only come back to that overnight...
31:27And Villeneuve's video...
31:28...and there are lots to go.
31:29I'll change it all in the video...
31:31...but hopefully, we'll be back in the video...
31:32...and then, I'll record my little bit.
31:35And I'll record my little bit...
31:37...and then, I'll record my little bit.
31:38And I'll record my little bit.
31:39So I can make a little bit of a light...
31:41...and that is where I'm going to start,
31:43I'll record my little bit.
31:45I know, one year's time-core water,
31:46I'll record my little bit,
31:47Just listen.
31:52Something's making noise, I hear.
31:56It sounds like water being...
31:57I'm pumped.
32:01Up here.
32:02Up here.
32:07The sound is coming from in here.
32:12Up here.
32:16So when I'm out...
32:17Inside of this thing, my voice sounds fairly normal.
32:20But the second I talk inside of it...
32:23Listen to that.
32:24Hello.
32:26Whoa.
32:28It's picking up a lot of the lower tones.
32:30And making those vibrate more than...
32:32In the higher tones.
32:33So, let's say some water flushes through this.
32:37Maybe...
32:38The...
32:39Lower tones of that water flushing through...
32:41Are getting...
32:42Amplified and resonating through this.
32:45Shooting out into aft auxiliary.
32:47And the effects of carbon monoxide.
32:49Adds a whole new element in sounding like...
32:52Off the ground.
32:57Some...
32:57Stacey said that the most intense experience she ever had was that shadow figure barreling.
33:02Down the hallway.
33:04Was that you? Were you that shadow figure?
33:07Prime.
33:09In your prime while you were on?
33:10Wah!
33:12Okay, so you were in your prime when you were on this ship.
33:17How many spirits are here with me?
33:20Match!
33:22There's a bunch of you here.
33:23Are you on this ship still protecting it from entities that don't belong?
33:27Are you keeping her safe?
33:32Oh, yes.
33:33Yes.
33:34Okay.
33:35Yeah.
33:36So you're still safe?
33:37I think there's a ton of sailors on this ship that are still protecting her.
33:42I think this ship is a beacon.
33:44It's like a supercharged battery.
33:47For spirits to constantly use.
33:51Yep.
33:52I think I'm finally understanding the activity on this ship.
33:57All of them are home in your near future.
33:58I think it's only one İzir-i is going to get old.
33:59aside or the-m Short virus who knows what those ships and travel can do.
34:00But I don't still carry.
34:01I İşte I'm not gonna.
34:02うん
34:03Well, okay.
34:04Well, so after you put me in our current chapter 4.
34:06There's going to be a bit.
34:07After you put that, I'll wait, okay?
34:08Well, okay.
34:09I love really, I love you.
34:10kiedy I will.
34:11After everything?
34:12You got.
34:13After it, I will.
34:15I'll see you.
34:16You won't forget LTION 99 times to null.
34:18After everything new animals.
34:19You're dist And it.
34:20Because you're gonna be quiet.
34:22I should be quiet.
34:23Demons you kill them?
34:24Oh my gosh.
34:29Oh, this must have been cryptography in here.
34:34Top secret, look at that.
34:36Whoa.
34:39If these walls could talk, it gets on it.
34:43No!
34:44What the?
34:45What the?
34:49Over its years of service, the USS Hornet welcomed many.
34:54Legendary guests from presidents to astronauts, but arguably the most remarkable
34:59visitor was a gaunt, wild-eyed man named George Tweed, also known as George Tweed.
35:04The ghost of Guam.
35:05When Japan invaded the U.S. territory...
35:09...of Guam in 1941, Navy sailor Tweed fled into the jungle.
35:13He then...
35:14...and spent a harrowing 31 months evading the Japanese, who were desperate to capture them.
35:19After three years of remaining invisible to the enemy, he was finally rescued...
35:24...by U.S. troops and brought aboard the USS Hornet.
35:27Dumbstruck sailors described...
35:29...as deathly thin, pale as a ghost, carrying only a blood-stained machete...
35:34...and a bundle of handwritten notes detailing enemy positions.
35:38American force...
35:39...sources used that very intel to retake Guam, and Tweed was awarded the Legion of...
35:44...merit.
35:45Not bad for a so-called ghost.
35:49What the hell was not?
35:50Now, you're the one who fought against us...
35:51...and certainly nota only, but didn't you slide by the British pilot model...
35:52...to be the one who fought against the重点 at the beginning of the ensemble of the ship.
35:53Can't take a record when you go to the entire ship.
35:55Oh, my goodness.
35:56That was a good message.
35:57It was just a good message.
35:58It was just a good message.
35:59What about the land?
36:01When the land were on the ship.
36:02It was just a good service.
36:04It was this land that was a good message.
36:05It was the land that just took a great vessel.
36:08It was just a good message.
36:13It was a good message but it was a good message.
36:18antenna here we go
36:23what antenna input
36:25antenna input
36:26okay i'll grab this paper box
36:28okay

37:53Admiral? Admiral Jocko, are you here?
37:58There's so much activity and so many different types of activity, and it doesn't...
38:03It does seem like they are still protecting the ship.
38:06Possibly the strength of that...
38:08...duty running through the blood of these sailors.
38:10This is a bond that these sailors created together.
38:13That would last well past a lifetime.
38:15If there's anything you want to say, now's the time.
38:18Peace? You want peace?
38:23What haunts the USS Hornet? Heather and...
38:28Phil asked questions using their super-powered spirit box for another hour.
38:33...and continued to get deeply disturbing answers.
38:36But none were more unsettling than this.
38:38Where are you protecting it from? What is here?
38:42Good and bad.
38:43Good and bad.
38:45This was the frightening theme for the evidence...
38:48...the team collected during their time on this 80-year-old aircraft carrier.
38:53First, to the good.
38:54Was there any evidence of positive paranormal forces on the Hornet?
38:58We reviewed the series of photos Phil took on the bridge.
39:02None of them...
39:03One of his reflected light experiments came close to replicating the clearly defined shape...
39:08...our witness captured.
39:11Does this mean her photo really...
39:13...was a manifestation of the ship's admiral, Joseph Jocko Clark.
39:18It may be that he's still protecting the ship he loved so dearly.
39:23But there was also evidence of...
39:26...the bad.
39:27What?
39:28Whoa!
39:29What is that?
39:30Heather believes the sinister black line in the corridor outside...
39:33...the conference room is proof of an aggressive paranormal presence.
39:38Given that this is right where the hostile crawler spirit is often reported, she's only...
39:43...more certain that something menacing was close.
39:48...which makes what she captured on the audio recorded in the room itself all the more shocking.
39:53She noticed the appearance of the lines coincided with this noise.
39:58Is that the crawler?
39:59Is that the crawler?
40:03It's very faint, but she believes you can distinctly hear the repetitive sound of a...
40:08...general quarters alarm.
40:09What?
40:10What?
40:11What?
40:12What?
40:13What?
40:16What?
40:17Could this be the as...
40:18residual energy of sailors scrambling to their battle stations, or is this a
40:23warning because the crawler was about to attack.
40:28This disturbing crawling entity remains a mystery.
40:33The USS Hornet at war between the good and the bad are the spirits of the...
40:38brave sailors really battling a strange, evil, paranormal force.
40:43Heather thinks the evidence points to a simple answer.
40:48Yes, if the USS Hornet truly is fighting on in the afterlife,
40:53Heather had a final idea to bring what this warship and its former sailors...
40:58would want most of all...
41:00peace.
41:01Okay, so they used to play this every single...
41:03night before it lights out.
41:04Let's see if we can help these sailors get rest.
41:06Okay.
41:08Ready?
41:09Mm-hmm.
