The major parties have used the first day of the school year to unveil their key education policies. Labor's promising more technical colleges if it's re-elected in March, while the Liberals want to pump more money into school maintenance and infrastructure upgrades. But both found themselves dealing with distractions.

00:35But no word yet on where the colleges will be.

00:43with a guaranteed job when they leave the technical college.
