00:00And Blades, I can't even imagine what the last eight days have been like for you going from the Bahamas, the Corn Ferry event down there and flying Wednesday after the round all the way to Laquinta, California for the American Express.
00:13And then having the week that you just had where you had a putt at 59, playing the final group with Scotty Sheff for the world number one and have a chance to be the second youngest winner on the PGA Tour.
00:24I know the day didn't exactly go the way that maybe you envisioned, but still, how can you sum up a week like this and what it can do for your confidence moving forward?
00:35Well, I mean, Smiley, you said it perfectly, like, what, how awesome is that?
00:40I'm 18 years old. I'm playing on the PGA Tour. I played in the final round with Scotty Sheffler.
00:45It was my eighth competitive tournament round in a row. Like, what, what is better than that?
00:50No, it was, I cannot put into words how awesome this week was. I'm so blessed to be able to play.
00:55I mean, PGA West, like they, they did an unbelievable job. It was, I will say it was nice going from Abaco where it's blowing 30 and the greens are probably 10 or so to Laquinta where there was no wind and greens were on 13.
01:07So I had an unbelievable time competing on the PGA Tour this week.
01:11You know, if there was an opportunity for me to press the tornado siren or just a siren around Laquinta where everybody could hear it, I would have done it after your first seven holes on the Nicholas course to let everybody know that Blades Brown is on 59 watch.
01:27Everybody needs to get to the Nicholas course to see if this guy can finish it out. When you're eight under through seven holes, how tough is that mentally to not think about that number and just keep on going shot after shot?
01:41Because when you get that many under, it's, it's hard not to get out in front of yourself, right?
01:47Yeah. I had a, a semi goal for that day. Um, because Laquinta is the easiest of the three golf courses and I only shot five under, which I mean, honestly, I'll take that any day of the week just because I had no practice around.
01:59So I haven't played those golf courses in, in over a year. Um, but yeah, so I wanted to actually shoot 10, uh, the Nicholas course starting the day. And then I was eight under through seven.
02:09And I'm like, that was the call. And I'm like, huh? Uh, Brett, we might need to change our goal here. Uh, and so then, and then once we were eight through seven, I said, okay, let's, let's see if we can get five more.
02:19Cause I knew it was a par 72 and I've never shot 59 before. I've shot 60 before. Um, but I was like, this could be really special. So, um, yeah, I just came up one short, um, got a perfect read off David on the last putt. Um, I mean, I would honestly argue that if I hadn't seen his putt, there might've been a chance that it had gone in.
02:36Um, but no, I hit my line and unfortunately it didn't go in, but I had so much fun playing that. The Nicholas course.
02:42Okay. I mean, it looked like it was a putt that just had to move left from David Ford.
02:48I know it looked like it fell left at the end. So it, it was a tough read. We saw plenty of guys, you know, kind of get fooled on that ninth grade.
02:55I don't know if it's just being over there by the lake and not quite understanding where the pole was, but I'm with you.
03:01I would have put it half and half out and just trusted that it was going to turn, but it didn't move an inch left.
03:06Yeah. Yeah. I had it like a half a ball out and then they'd, uh, oh man, I'm just, oh, I want that pop back so bad, but it's all right.
03:13I'm hoping to have another chance at that sometime.
