00:00I have a question for Mr. Mertz.
00:02So today you are announcing the energy island Bornholm,
00:07but the Danish government is making new regulations
00:11that will allow other countries to put windparks on Danish soil or waters.
00:19Is this something the German government wants to go ahead with,
00:23creating not just Bornholm, but more windparks in Danish waters?
00:28And a question for all the three of you.
00:31I have heard so many speak today about geopolitics, energy security.
00:36I would like to ask if Trump's remarks on windmills and gas dominance,
00:42energy dominance, actually is speeding up Europe's investments in wind energy.
00:47Mr. Mertz.
00:51We have in the European Union seit vielen Jahren eine gemeinsame Energiepolitik,
01:54Because of course, as the nice gentleman has pointed out,
01:57we are in a bit of trouble with the energy prices due to the war that Russia has
02:01caused on Europe, and due to the fact that not everybody in the world is participating
02:06in our vision of clean energy, and that we have, of course, across the Atlantic,
02:11a partner who has been making very derogative remarks about wind energy,
02:17and has gone in full for fossil fuels,
02:21which also puts us in a bit of difficulty to get the marriage done
02:28between the energy transition on the one hand and the competitivity of our industry on the other hand.
02:35It will not be a surprise to you that this was a topic at a roundtable discussion with the private sector.
02:40This was the topic. How do we get it done?
02:42How do we finance it with certainty for decades in a very uncertain world,
02:47and with the rest of the world that isn't really engaging in the energy transition as we would have liked it in Europe?
02:56So we'll take all that in consideration and take the best possible decision we can,
03:01tendering the offshore wind park, new capacity of offshore wind,
03:06but the scale of the project, that's still a question mark for me, as it is for you,
03:14and will remain a question mark for the time being.
03:18Thank you. Prime Minister Frederiksen has no...
03:20Maybe just to add one point.
03:21I mean, now we have been able to take a very, very important decision within the European Union
03:28to phase out fossil fuels from Russia.
03:31And I think, or I hope that all Europeans can see now that it was a huge mistake to be depending on Russian fossil fuels.
03:42We should never have done that.
03:46And now we have to make sure that we will have no dependencies on other countries outside Europe,
03:53not only on energy, on everything.
03:55And that's why I think nobody can discuss energy without discussing security.
04:01And nowadays you cannot discuss security without discussing energy.
04:05So we have to scale up, we have to speed up,
04:08and we have to be able to produce the energy that is needed for our households and for our businesses.
