00:00The House leadership forwards two impeachment complaints filed against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to the Justice Committee.
00:07This marks the start of a process that could remove him from office if successful.
00:11The first petition was endorsed by Pusong Pinoy Representative Jet Nisay and the second petition endorsed by the three-member Makabayan Block.
00:18The referral came after Speaker Bo GD included the two complaints in the order of business in the plenary on the first House session after their break.
00:25There were earlier concerns that only the complaint endorsed by Nisay, which was filed a week ahead of Makabayan's, would be sent to the Justice Committee.
00:32If the Makabayan-backed petition were not transmitted at the same time, it would be deemed useless since the Constitution allows only one impeachment proceeding against an impeachable official per year.
00:42Meantime, House Majority Leader Sandro Marcos says he is inhibiting from the impeachment proceedings to avoid any perceived conflict of interest.
