Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez sharply criticized U.S. President Donald Trump’s Greenland proposal, accusing the U.S. of pursuing “America Only” policies that undermine European sovereignty. Speaking at a rally in Huesca, Sanchez denounced what he called “transatlantic despotism” and called out conservative Spanish parties PP and Vox for failing to challenge Trump’s threats against Europe. Sanchez reaffirmed Spain’s commitment to strong European and transatlantic relations while defending national priorities.

00:00We have passed very hard days and very very hard.
00:08If you want me to allow me, like Pilar,
00:10that my first words are for the victims, for the families,
00:17for the neighbors and neighbors of Adamuz and also of Barcelona.
00:21All the love for the victims and families of those tragic accidents.
00:30All the pride of those servants and public servants,
00:43also of the institutions that have worked coordinately and unitary,
00:49to respond to this tragedy, as we always do the Spanish and Spanish,
00:55with unity, with loyalty, with empathy and with efficacy.
01:01And I also want to say all my recognition
01:05to the Minister of Transportes, Oscar Puente,
01:08that is gestioning and giving the face
01:11from the first moment of this tragedy.
01:25Because that is the difference.
01:27That is the difference between uns and others.
01:31Unfortunately, in the life, the tragedies happen.
01:35But it is not the same how to respond to those tragedies.
01:38And this government has responded
01:41by putting the victims in the center of their priorities.
01:45With empathy, with efficacy, with transparency and with unity.
01:51Letting to one side the political stéril confrontation
01:54that we leave from the main goal.
01:57That is to respond to the victims
01:59and to establish a service ferroviario
02:02that is admired in the world.
02:04Look, even in this week,
02:07in which I have had the opportunity
02:11to be able to be in Brussels
02:13and have received the criticism
02:15of the President of the United States
02:16saying that Spain is not spending
02:19the 5% of its GDP in defense.
02:23I want to remind the Spanish and Spanish
02:27that Spain, and this government,
02:30feel very proud of its armed forces.
02:34We feel very proud.
02:36If you know very well, you know who we are.
02:46And today, Spain
02:48dedica almost 34.000 million euros
02:51to the defense budget
02:53to strengthen the armed forces.
02:55But we also understand
02:57that the security,
02:59the security,
03:00the guaranteed,
03:01the guaranteed,
03:02the good forces armed,
03:03as well as good forces
03:05and safe care of the State.
03:06But also,
03:07the social cohesion
03:09and, at the same time,
03:10that we are strengthening
03:11the defense of our country
03:13for all of our security
03:14to guarantee the security
03:15in the whole of Europe.
03:16And this is the question,
03:18my friends and I have
03:20the pride of defending
03:22what we are doing in Spain
03:24and also defending
03:26what we are defending
03:27in the world.
03:28Because if something has been clear after a year of the US administration,
03:34it is that for the right-right, it was never the United States first.
03:39It was always the only and exclusively the United States.
03:44And we are a government and a society that will always defend
03:48the positive and constructive relations with all the administrations of all countries.
03:58And we defend some transatlantic relations of the same as the same.
04:04And what we are not going to accept is the despotism transatlantic
04:08that some administrations plant,
04:11putting in question even the territorial sovereignty of some countries
04:15such as the case of Dinamarca and Groenland.
04:20I am so proud of what we are defending.
04:24Because we are not the last in Europe.
04:27We are the seed of a new Europe that will grow and germinate
04:31during the next few years
04:33thanks also to the support of the government of progressive progresist in Spain.
04:39The PP stops talking.
04:41The PP doesn't understand.
04:43In the European Parliament vote for the EU-Mercosur
04:46and then here comes the President Feijói and says
04:48that it doesn't apply.
04:50There will be more cynicism.
04:54But the more cynicism is the Vox.
04:56Because as they say that it doesn't apply and we are against the agreement
05:00and we are against the agreement with the Mercosur.
05:02Even if they call themselves when the voice of the Amo says
05:04Aranceles to Europe
05:06because they want the Mr. Planck.
05:10And they call themselves
05:12because they are the voice of their Amo.
05:16Thank you very much.
