National Rally leader and MEP Jordan Bardella accuses U.S. President Donald Trump of exerting “overt territorial pressure with explicit commercial blackmail” over Greenland and calls on European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to immediately suspend the EU-US trade deal. Speaking in the European Parliament, Bardella warns that concessions would endanger European sovereignty and set a dangerous precedent amid rising transatlantic tensions.

00:00Thank you, Mr. President.
00:04Madame la Vice-Présidente,
00:06What is happening today around the Groenland
00:09is far beyond a diplomatic agreement.
00:12It is an effort of power and truth for Europe.
00:15The President of the United States puts the European Union
00:18against a clear choice,
00:20accepting a vassalization
00:22under the transatlantic partnership
00:24or becoming sovereign actors,
00:26capable of defending our interests and integrity.
00:29The moment that we live is not an accident of history.
00:32It is the aboutissement
00:34of decades of strategic pavements
00:36nourished by the illusion of a pacified mondialization
00:39and by the progressive abandon of our autonomy
00:41in the profit of a comfortable independence.
00:43When an American president
00:45menace openly a European state,
00:47when he combines a territorial pressure
00:50with a commercial commercial explicit,
00:52it is not only a partner who express it,
00:55it is a force of force.
00:57And it is our credibility
00:59which is then made up.
01:00The Groenland,
01:01territory four times more vast
01:02than the France,
01:04is becoming a global pivot
01:05strategy,
01:06at the heart of new rivalities
01:08between great powers
01:09which renew with the imperial logic.
01:11We say here,
01:12what is happening today
01:14is the conflicts of tomorrow.
01:16Céder would create a grave precedent
01:19which would concern tomorrow
01:20other European countries
01:21and perhaps after tomorrow
01:23the ultra-marins
01:24French countries
01:25who would,
01:26to their turn,
01:27will have a comparable pressure.
01:29In terms of sovereignty,
01:30every announcement
01:31calls the following.
01:32Face to this situation,
01:33the European Union
01:34is at the foot of the wall
01:35but does not have the right
01:36to be in front of the provocations
01:37which threaten
01:38its prosperity and integrity.
01:39L'accord négocié
01:40l'été dernier
01:41par la présidente
01:42von der Leyen
01:43devrait être suspendu
01:44immédiatement en retour.
01:45L'Union Européenne
01:46doit activer sans délai
01:47ses instruments
01:48anti-coercition
01:49et assumer des mesures
01:50ciblées
01:51sur les services
01:52et les exportations
01:53américaines
01:54à destination de l'Europe.
01:55Elle doit mettre en œuvre
01:56la préférence européenne
01:57dans les marchés de défense.
01:58Il ne s'agit pas d'escalade,
02:00il s'agit de notre souveraineté.
02:02Car au fond,
02:03mesdames, messieurs,
02:04le choix est simple,
02:05accepter une fois encore
02:06la dépendance
02:07ou reprendre la maîtrise
02:08de notre destin.
02:09Notre soumission
02:10serait une faute historique.
02:12Derrière cette épreuve
02:13se joue notre liberté politique.
02:15Alors nous,
02:16nous faisons un choix clair,
02:17celui des peuples souverains,
02:18des nations libres,
02:20debout,
02:21capables d'assumer leur destin.
02:37C'est parti.
02:38C'est parti.
02:39C'est parti.
