00:00The winter wonderland of North Texas continues here throughout the day today as you see scenes like this behind me.
00:07And this, folks, isn't snow. This is sleet.
00:10We've seen over an inch of sleet by lunchtime on Saturday with those numbers continuing to grow through the afternoon.
00:16Off and on, we'll see and then we'll expect another good round overnight tonight into Sunday morning
00:20where we'll add maybe another inch or two on top of that for folks on the north side of the Metroplex.
00:26If you're south, you're probably going to see a little bit more in the way of freezing rain.
00:30We saw that rain really continue all day Friday into the rush hour.
00:34Fortunately, freezing temperatures didn't arrive until we got well after dark.
00:37That is when a quick changeover to mostly sleet occurred.
00:40That is some good news. Freezing rain, very, very bad.
00:43Sleet is only a little bit bad, certainly not great, but it is better than the freezing rain.
00:48And hopefully it will stay that way as sleet has been the predominant precipitation here in northern Texas,
00:53north side of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, especially as you get closer to the Denton areas.
00:58And we start picking up the accumulations and looks more like a winter wonderland than it does typical for north Texas.
01:05The cold is going to be another big story with this.
01:08Precipitation is going to linger into Sunday morning, Sunday afternoon.
01:11And by the time we get into Monday morning, most of that should start to clear on out.
01:14But that cold is going to hang around for another day or two on the back end.
01:17So it seems like what you're seeing over my shoulder are going to remain the case probably as we get into the early middle part of next week.
01:23So stay warm, stay bundled up and stay off the roads.
01:27That has been the good news.
01:28Most folks taking heed of these winter warnings, staying off of the roads and what would normally be a very busy big box store area.
01:35Very, very quiet on Saturday.
01:37Thanks to Mother Nature keeping everybody inside.
