AccuWeather's Tony Laubach reported live from Texas on the evening of Nov. 4, tracking severe storms that left a trail of damage across the Plains.
Transcript
00:00Tony, what are you experiencing and specifically where are you?
00:05Well, currently I'm in Greenville, Texas here. I'm right on that line that I've been following
00:09for the last couple hours, about ready to shoot east. We've seen some rapid development of storms
00:13off to the east, two new tornado warnings up in the Isabel area on the other side of the border
00:18in Oklahoma and then one just north of Mount Pleasant, Texas. That's the direction I'm going
00:22to head to get out in front of those storms because I believe that line is going to be
00:25the biggest threat here over the next couple hours. I've been kind of teeing that up for you
00:29guys here as we've been working our way, been tracking a couple of storms. One of those storms
00:34happening right now, this is a non-severe storm here and if you're looking, more impressive,
00:38more bark than bite as we like to say with this. Dealing with some heavy rain, I was hoping to set
00:42this one up outside but the lightning and the rain started to move into the area so I had to pull
00:47myself back into the car here but you're getting that kind of cool view shot. You're looking at me,
00:51you get to look at the storm, it's all nice and set up here for you. But we're going to talk about
00:55the storm that we saw earlier, the one in Leonard last hour. That was a pretty significant,
00:59severe thunderstorm that rolled through. Nothing tornadic with that. We did get some reports of
01:04hail up to golf ball size. That will likely just pass the north of Leonard because I was in the
01:08town of Leonard when that storm came through, brought some 50 to 60 mile per hour winds
01:12through that area, blinding water and rain there on US-69 there on the south side of town. Traffic
01:19was pretty slow there for a time, even had to come to a stop at a couple of points as we were
01:23dealing with the low visibility that you're seeing there right now. Again, those winds
01:26approaching 50 to 60 miles per hour. Didn't see any significant damage there in the town of Leonard
01:31itself. The biggest thing I saw looked like an unattached shed had been flipped out of somebody's
01:36yard and rolled there partially into the driveway of the house there. But other than that, just some
01:41minor tree limb damage and that was really about it for the town of Leonard as that storm quickly
01:46moved on through. Had about 10 minutes of some sketchy conditions with that but that storm
01:51rocketed off north of the border is now being dealt with there in southern Oklahoma. But again,
01:56focus shifting right now a little bit further to the east, about an hour or so to my east,
01:59so we're going to get set up there after daylight savings time. We're looking at that loss of hours,
02:04so we're probably going to be getting dark a little bit earlier here, so that will change
02:08the dynamic of how I track these storms for the remainder of the evening. But hoping I can get out
02:13east ahead of these storms with a little bit of light left. We'll show some of that once we get
02:16out that way. So keep it here on the AccuWeather network. I'll be on at the top of the hour,
02:21hopefully about an hour or so east of here as we're tracking that new line of storms.
02:25Again, with new tornado warnings there and as far as southeast Oklahoma, northeast Texas there
02:30near the Mount Pleasant, Texas area. That is the direction I will be heading here next, Jeff.
02:34All right, Tony. We'll be safe. Thank you so much for your reporting as always. A cool shot of that
02:38storm that rolled in and we see that report that you mentioned that you captured communicating
02:42about the unattached shed moved out of a yard there in Leonard, Texas, 355 Central Time. That's
02:47the report that we have highlighted here on the radar. And we're going to be checking back in
02:51with Tony, but as he is traveling through the area of Greenville, he pulled over for the live shot
02:56and he's going to be continuing moving east and along the interstate there.
