00:00Spanish Foreign Affairs Minister José Manuel Albares told Euronews that a possible deal
00:05for Greenland, discussed between NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and US President Donald
00:11Trump, will be brought to all member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance.
00:16On Wednesday, Trump announced that a framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland
00:22was formed after talks with Rutte.
00:24No details on the deal have been provided so far, and Denmark has stressed that further
00:29discussions must include its governments and Greenland.
00:33Well, it's not NATO, it's the Secretary General of NATO talking to one of the allies.
00:38We are all NATO, of course they are NATO, of course.
00:40And it's normal that the President of a country talks to the Secretary General of NATO.
00:45The President of Spain has talked on bilateral, we all do it.
00:48But on this announcement, the only thing I know is the announcement that was made yesterday.
00:54I talked to the ministers of foreign affairs of other allied countries, they have the
00:58same information as me, just the announcement, and I'm sure that wherever has been discussed
01:04will be brought to the Council of NATO.
01:07Short of pointing his finger at Trump, Albares said that in the face of countries that threaten
01:12war and the use of force as a foreign policy tool, Europe must stand for its values and must
01:19start moving towards creating a European army.
01:22As Europeans, our responsibility is even greater than before, we have to stand strong on our
01:30values.
01:31And our values are those of democracy, of international law, and defending peace.
01:36If we want to continue being a soil of peace in which no one can bring war, or no one can
01:42use coercion on us, either the threat of the use of force, or trade coercion, we need to
01:50have the deterrence in our hands.
01:52And we need also a first coalition of the willings on European security, secondly, an integration
02:00of our industries of defence, and at the end, a European army.
