00:00This is what 59 looks like.
00:12I haven't had a breath or a bite in about four days.
00:18Anyway, hello.
00:22Thank you, darling.
00:23Look, we don't have to get how excited you are about this.
00:27The look on your face and the jump up.
00:31And, you know, what's the giggle in this and what does it mean to you?
00:37I've done a lot of work at this point in my career.
00:42But I think being honored, and this isn't false modesty.
00:48When we're honored, we celebrate all the people who work with us.
00:51And I will say, working on Sharp Objects, I had the most remarkable group of people around me
00:57that I can remember, led by Amy Adams, Jean-Marc Vallée, HBO, Chris Messina, Matt Craven, Elizabeth Perkins.
01:08That was the supporting cast.
01:10And Eliza Scanlon.
01:12And so I feel I've won for everybody.
01:16I feel I'm here tonight to celebrate Sharp Objects.
01:22That's why I'm here tonight.
01:25What's the giggle in the getting dressed and the getting ready and the anticipation?
01:30It's exhausting.
01:32But it is extraordinary.
01:40And George Chakra, this is a couture George Chakra dress.
01:44It's the first dress I saw, and I picked it.
01:47I was superstitious.
01:49I saw it for something else, and I said, no, if I get nominated, just tell him I might wear it.
01:55Whatever.
01:55I was superstitious.
01:56But I didn't know if I'd be nominated, but I had this dress for a while.
02:03And I'm here tonight with this.
02:07Yes?
02:08But since it is such a long night, do you have any snack strategies?
02:12Oh, I'm going to be eating bolognese tomorrow.
02:16Or maybe tonight.
02:17But this belt is very tight, and it'll just make my life miserable.
02:25So I'm going to get through tonight, have a little more champagne.
02:30Thank God I haven't had too much.
02:32And call my mom and dad when I finish talking to you and a few friends and celebrate with this extraordinary man.
02:41That's my date tonight, Darwin Shaw.
02:44And I'm looking forward to celebrating at HBO Party first and foremost.
02:50Hi, congratulations.
02:55Hello.
02:55You mentioned you are superstitious.
02:57Do you have any, are there any other good luck rituals?
03:00Can you take me through, you know, anything special you may have done in the last couple of days?
03:04I won't let anybody say anything about winning.
03:09And if they do, I make them turn around three times and spit.
03:12I swear to God.
03:15Ask anybody in my life, Katie, anybody says, oh, Patty, I think you might.
03:20No, no, no, no, no, no.
03:21Turn around three times and spit.
03:23Which is an old theater superstition.
03:27So.
03:29Patricia Jackson-Morwell-Staney.
03:31Hello.
03:31Thank you so much.
03:33You're so jolly.
03:34And one of the child's objects, you play such a dark character.
03:38What was it like taking on something so dark?
03:42Well, I, you know, I thanked my parents at the end of this.
03:46I shared that with them or dedicated to them.
03:49I had an extraordinary childhood.
03:50And I think I'm able to play these incredibly compromised, fractured, brutal women characters
04:00because I had a beautiful life growing up.
04:05And I actually think that feeds you in an odd juxtaposition, in an odd way.
04:12And Adora was one for the books, literally and figuratively.
04:17And, but she is one that, she's a character that I, I love still with all of her foibles,
04:26all of her faults, all of her troubles.
04:29I still love her.
