00:00Almost three years of war in Sudan have left more than 8 million children out of school for nearly 500 days.
00:07Aid groups Save the Children said the country is now facing one of the world's longest school closures.
00:14The organization said more than 8 million children, almost half of Sudan's 17 million school-age population,
00:21have spent about 484 days without setting foot in a classroom.
00:26Many schools remain closed, others have been damaged in the fighting,
00:32and thousands are now being used as shelter for more than 7 million displaced people across the country.
00:39Sudan has been in turmoil since April 2023,
00:43when a power struggle erupted between the Army and the Parliamentary Rapid Support Forces, or RSF.
00:49The war, which has already killed tens of thousands of people,
00:52has created what the United Nations call the world's worst humanitarian crisis.
