00:00Dual citizens with Australian-British or Australian-Irish passports are being warned to expect a big change when travelling to the UK.
00:08From February 25th, 2026, dual nationals will no longer be able to rely on a visa or an electronic travel authorisation, known as an ETA, to enter the UK, and may be refused boarding without the correct documentation.
00:23The move follows a tightening of the UK's ETA scheme, which now applies to non-UK and non-Irish passport holders.
00:33This means that Australians travelling with only an Australian passport must apply for an ETA.
00:40Meanwhile, dual citizens must travel on their UK or Irish passports to avoid having to apply for the ETA, or use a certificate of entitlement to the right of abode.
00:52The change also comes as the UK government passes legislation to allow for additional tourist taxes to be applied to overnight stays in parts of the UK.
01:03It's not yet confirmed how much the tourist tax will cost travellers to the UK, but it's unlikely to exceed a few pounds per person per night.
01:13So, you could be seeing an amount equivalent to about two to four Australian dollars per night appearing on your accommodation bill in the UK.
01:22So, you could be seeing that as a party, and you could be seeing others.
01:26So, if you see an an airport横ie, it's fine.
01:27I am going to explore that because you could leave a few days later.
01:36So, let's see.
01:41If you see an American passport, I will go back to an airport station.
