00:00Did you know your next holiday could be ruined by one tiny passport mistake?
00:04Millions of travelers are at risk right now.
00:06And most have no idea.
00:08If you're planning a trip to Europe, you need to listen carefully.
00:11Because you could be stopped at the airport, even if your passport looks perfectly valid.
00:16A travel expert has warned that many people are still confused about passport rules.
00:21Most countries require your passport to have months of validity left.
00:25But here's the part that catches people out.
00:28That six-month validity must be counted from the day you return home, not the day you leave.
00:33And that's not the only trap.
00:35For years, the passport office used to add extra months to renewed passports,
00:40meaning some passports could be valid for up to ten years and nine months.
00:43But now, that extra time is completely useless.
00:46Your passport must be no more than ten years old from the issue date, even if it shows a longer
00:51expiry.
00:52So you need to check the issue date, then count forward ten years, and then check if you still meet
00:57the required validity.
00:58And Europe has its own rules.
01:00To enter the EU, your passport must be issued within the last ten years,
01:04and valid for at least three months after you leave.
01:07If your passport doesn't meet every rule, you could be turned away.
01:11So check your issue date, check your expiry, and check the country requirements before you travel.
01:17Because one simple mistake could cost you your entire holiday.
