00:07journey times and improve connections to the Elizabeth Line, DLR and London Underground.
00:13Transport for London said pay-as-you-go customers would not be charged on the route between
00:17the 24th and 30th of January, although passengers must still touch in with an Oyster card or
00:22contactless card.
00:24The SL11 replaces the daytime service on Route 472 and will run more frequently with buses
00:31every 6 minutes during the day on weekdays and Saturdays.
00:34A new night service, N472, will also operate overnight every 30 minutes.
00:43TFL said the route would support regeneration plans in Thames, Mead and align with proposals
00:48to extend the DLR from Galleons Reach to Becton Riverside and Thames, which received government
00:53funding in the autumn budget.
00:57The launch follows a public consultation on the SL11 plans, which TFL said showed strong
01:03support.
01:05More than half of respondents said the new route would be more convenient, while nearly two-thirds
01:09believed it would result in quicker journeys.
01:12London Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan said the service would provide faster and more direct connections
01:17in an area that has lacked public transport.
01:20With a new route, the network will cover a total distance of 135 miles across London in total.
