00:00Sometime this morning, the Supreme Court will be dropping new opinions, and there are some
00:07big ones out there. Voting rights, presidential power, and the biggest of all, tariffs. Those
00:12rulings could be landing soon, and they could reshape trade, elections, and the balance of
00:18power in Washington. But before we get to what the court may decide today, a new development
00:23to tell you about for tomorrow. The Associated Press was first to report that Federal Reserve
00:28Chair Jerome Powell will personally go to the high court for oral arguments in a case
00:33that could redefine who controls the central bank. That almost never happens. Powell will
00:39be in the courtroom as the justices hear a case over whether President Trump can fire Fed
00:44Governor Lisa Cook. You may recall Trump tried to remove her last summer, accusing her of
00:49mortgage fraud. She denies it. No charges were filed, and the court has already blocked her
00:54firing for now. So why does this matter? Because if Trump wins, he could flip the balance of
01:00power at the Fed and gain real influence over interest rates. And Powell showing up in person
01:05is a signal, especially after the Fed chairman revealed this month he's now under criminal
01:10investigation, which he says is retaliation for refusing to slash rates on Trump's timeline.
01:16So tomorrow, Wednesday, Powell, Cook, the justices, and a courtroom showdown with consequences far beyond
01:24this case.
