00:02He's been running the Justice Department for weeks and now President Trump wants to
00:06make it permanent. Trump says he will nominate Todd Blanche to serve as the next U.S. Attorney
00:12General. Blanche has been serving as acting Attorney General since April, when Trump fired
00:17Pam Bondi and elevated him from Deputy Attorney General. Before joining the administration,
00:22Blanche was one of Trump's personal defense attorneys and represented him in several
00:26high-profile criminal cases. The president announced his plans during a private event
00:30at the White House, predicting a quick confirmation process. He's acting Attorney General. Tomorrow I'm
00:36instructing Dan and everybody else that's involved in that very complicated process, which is going
00:42to go, I think, very quickly, that we are going to make him permanent Attorney General. If confirmed
00:48by the Senate, Blanche would take over the job after just over a month as acting Attorney General.
00:53His nomination comes days after the Justice Department abandoned plans for a controversial
00:58$1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund that had drawn criticism from both parties on Capitol Hill.
