00:00I'm on Gari's eastern beach, a few kilometres south of the Mahino shipwreck, around where
00:09the 19-year-old woman's body was found yesterday morning.
00:14The 19-year-old woman was a Canadian national.
00:18She'd been living and working on Gari in a backpacker's hostel for around six weeks.
00:24Yesterday morning, at around 5am, she came down and told her co-workers and friends in
00:30the hostel that she was going to go for a swim in the beach, down at that eastern beach.
00:37Now about an hour and a half later, around 6.30, two men were travelling in a vehicle south
00:45from Orchid Beach, which is located at the northern tip of the island.
00:49They came across what looked like a pack of dingoes surrounding an object of sorts.
00:56Police said that the men sort of approached the pack, dispersed the dingoes and discovered
01:01the woman's body.
01:02And police said that that was, of course, quite a traumatic scene for them to witness.
01:08Now, in terms of the cause of death, police told us yesterday that they're unable to rule
01:12out an attack by dingoes as the possible cause of death.
01:18The other possible cause that they're looking at is drowning.
01:22Yesterday the woman's body was transported to the mainland and police have said this morning
01:28that her body is being transported to Brisbane for a post-mortem.
