00:00Thousands marched and nuked to oppose Trump's interest in taking over Greenland in what
00:05officials say is the biggest protest in the history of the island.
00:11Iran's supreme leader has directly accused Donald Trump for the death of thousands of
00:16protesters during the country's unrest.
00:21After 25 years in the making, the EU finally signed the controversial Mercosur trade deal
00:27on Saturday.
00:31Thousands marched in Greenland's capital Nuk across snow and ice on Saturday to take
00:36a stand against US President Donald Trump and his declared interest in taking over the
00:40island.
00:42Just as they finished their trek to the US consulate in adverse weather conditions, the news of
00:47Trump announcing a 10% tariff on eight European countries who defend Greenland's sovereignty
00:52broke.
00:54Trump on Saturday announced that beginning next month, all of Denmark, Sweden, Finland,
00:59Germany, France, the UK and the Netherlands will face a tariff on their exported goods,
01:05which could rise to 25% by June.
01:08The US President said the tariff will apply until, quote, a deal is reached for the complete
01:13and total purchase of Greenland.
01:15Greenlanders denounced the move, with some protesters slamming Trump for being arrogant
01:20and, quote, a very big bully.
01:23Trump has sought the takeover of the mineral-rich Arctic nation, part of the Danish throne, since
01:28his first term in office.
01:31Upon his return to the Oval Office, those calls were amplified, gaining more weight after
01:36a US military intervention in Venezuela earlier this month, which many countries say was a violation
01:42of international law.
01:47Iran's supreme leader has pointed the finger directly at US President Donald Trump as responsible
01:55for the death toll during the protests currently rocking the country.
02:01So far, more than 3,400 people have been killed, according to activists, but Tehran does not acknowledge
02:09these statistics.
02:11In his speech during the Eid al-Mabba celebrations, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei insisted that the violent
02:17unrest in Iran is the result of, quote, American sedition.
02:21He then went on to say that his country will not go to war, but neither would its spare criminals.
02:29The Iranian government is in the midst of an unprecedented crisis since demonstrations
02:33began on the 28th of December, with no end in sight.
02:43A fire broke out at an energy facility in the southern Ukrainian region of Odessa following
02:48a Russian attack carried out overnight into Saturday.
02:52The country's state emergency service says the strike caused damage to buildings and vehicles,
02:57but confirmed that there were no casualties.
03:00More than 30 firefighters worked in the early hours of Saturday to put out the blaze.
03:05Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky slammed the Kremlin for its continued targeting of energy
03:10sites, which he says is a deliberate tactic to increase civilian suffering.
03:15In a post on X, the Ukrainian leader noted that he held a, quote, special energy coordination
03:21call to discuss ways to bolster defenses of energy sites and minimize harm to civilians.
03:28He also pleaded for more weapons to beef up his embattled country's air defenses, stressing
03:33that Kyiv's intelligence finds evidence that Russia's plotting massive attacks in the near
03:37future.
03:38After 25 years of talks, the EU has finally signed a major trade deal with South America's Mercosur
03:50nations.
03:51These include Argentina and Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay.
03:56The deal will create a free trade zone of roughly 700 million people, gradually eliminating
04:03about 90 percent of tariffs across the industrial, services and agricultural sectors.
04:10We choose fair trade over tariffs.
04:15We choose a productive, long-term partnership over isolation.
04:23Supporters of the deal, such as Germany and Spain, argue that the EU needs new trade ties
04:28away from the US and China, critics, such as France, say the deal threatens European farmers
04:35by exposing them to unfair competition from Latin American imports.
