00:00Do you look at this now with Bo Bichette in the three for 126?
00:03Do you look at that as the Mets, a better use of their money here in landing Bo Bichette
00:08and a better use of them trying to build this team into where they want to go in 2026?
00:13Well, I'll say this.
00:14It's a lot less money because he's got opt outs every year, right?
00:18He's got opt out the first year.
00:19So I assume at age 28, he's probably going to opt out.
00:22He gets $5 million just for opting out.
00:24Can you imagine $5 million for opting out, right?
00:26He gets a bullet.
00:27He's paid to opt out.
00:28So I think rather than keep the two years still going,
00:31there's a good chance if he has a normal season for him,
00:34he will opt out at one year at $47 million.
00:38As an onlooker, I feel more comfortable about that
00:41than committing it to a $60 million salary for a great complementary player.
00:48So I think Bo Bichette came out great.
00:52He'll be a free agent likely at age 28.
00:55Or if not 28, then 29.
00:58Or he could be 30.
00:59I mean, that's the advantage to being a prodigy
01:01and being such a good player at such a young age.
01:04But, you know, in terms of the finances,
01:07I like this a lot better for the Mets than committing 220.
01:10So we'll stick with that for the Mets, right?
01:12So I feel better about this deal than to make $220 million
01:15for a great complementary player.
