00:00Interesting development with the Yankees right now they are taking a little bit of a closer look
00:04at star free agent infielder Bo Bichette, one of the top free agents on the market.
00:10The Yankees have been in talks with Cody Bellinger, their player from last year who had an
00:16excellent year, 29 home runs, had more than a five war, was outstanding defensively and they've
00:21exchanged figures a couple of times with Bellinger. Right now there is still a bit of a gap and they
00:27haven't been able to close it to this point. Does that mean that Bellinger is gone? Not necessarily
00:32but both Bellinger and the Yankees will have an opportunity to look around a bit. We know that
00:36Bellinger is drawing interest from the teams he's played for. They like him. The Dodgers, Cubs are
00:41two teams looking at Bellinger, Mets, Giants, potentially the Jays if they don't get a deal
00:46done with Kyle Tucker. That could be another team for Bellinger but right now the Yankees focus other
00:52than on Bellinger seems to be on Bo Bichette. And Bichette is a guy who was one of the best hitters
00:58in the game, was hurt at the end of last year but did have a cameo role in the World Series,
01:04played very well, was nearly the hero in Game 7, expected to be healthy for the start of this
01:09coming season and it would be very, very interesting to see how they fit him in because we know that
01:15Volpe's out at the beginning of the year after shoulder surgery so obviously he could be a shortstop at the
01:20beginning for the Yankees. Could do some work at first base with Ben Rice there, a left-hander,
01:25a little bit of a real hard-hitting platoon potentially but not the obvious fit at least
01:31for 2026. They are taking bids on Jazz Chisholm, the all-star second baseman. Not sure anything is
01:38developing there but if they do trade Chisholm obviously then second base would be open and be
01:43more obvious. Bechette's got other teams interested. We know the Phillies as the New York Post first reported
01:49are interested in Bechette, Red Sox, Cubs, Dodgers, his old Blue Jays team, several teams interested
01:57in Bechette. Should be interesting how it turns out but the Yankees are one of those teams.
