00:00The day after the meeting between American officials and diplomats from Greenland and Denmark,
00:05Greenland's Prime Minister called for unity among his country's people.
00:09When we are in such a big geopolitical crisis and with threats of annexation,
00:14the time has come for us to stand clearly together between us and within the Kingdom of Denmark.
00:21On the ground, Greenland's population is anxious about the prospect of being annexed by the US.
00:26My children asked me if American soldiers were going to land. I told them I didn't know.
00:33The arrival of European troops in the territory has done little to dissuade Donald Trump,
00:38according to the White House press secretary.
00:40I don't think troops in Europe impact the president's decision-making process,
00:45nor does it impact his goal of the acquisition of Greenland at all.
00:50Trump has insisted that Greenland is crucial for his planned Golden Dome project,
00:54a missile defence system designed to protect US territory.
00:58He has claimed that China and Russia have their own designs on Greenland, claims denied by Moscow.
01:04The myth of some kind of Russian threat, rigorously promoted by Denmark and other members of the European Union and NATO for many years,
01:11is especially hypocritical.
01:13It is precisely under this far-fetched pretext that Washington has become concerned about the future of Greenland.
01:18On Friday, a delegation of US lawmakers will meet with Danish and Greenlandic leaders in Copenhagen.
01:25Ahead of the meeting, Republican Senator Tom Tillis said he believes Congress should stand,
01:31quote,
01:32united in supporting our allies and respecting the sovereignty of Denmark and Greenland.
01:36and then have a discount.
