00:00It's just a story, yeah, that really seemed to be working for me.
00:04It came alive and I had these two characters.
00:06I knew I had to write more about them because they're two of the best characters I've ever created.
00:11And they're unlike other characters that I have ever created.
00:14I have a large body of work at this point, but I don't write a lot about children because, you know, I don't have any.
00:20And I think that's a necessary thing.
00:22I was one once.
00:23I remember that.
00:24I tried to go back and see how I was feeling there.
00:26So to create a character like Egg, I have the feeling that I did it right.
00:31He came out right.
00:32And then a character like Dunk, he's very different than I am, too.
00:35But I really like the characters and the general tone of the story.
00:40It's very different from Game of Thrones or House of Dragons.
00:43Yes, there's people die in it.
00:46There's sword play.
00:48There's betrayals.
00:49There's stuff going on.
00:50But the general tone, I think, is lighter and happier than the other books.
00:56I like that as well, too.
00:58And thanks to these guys, I think it's come out wonderfully.
01:02People will really like it.
01:04Hopefully this is an on-ramp for anyone who didn't watch Game of Thrones the first time around.
01:12It's a little lighter coming in.
01:13You get to focus just on one character.
01:15You know, it took me a little while as I was reading the books the first time to keep placing everybody.
01:21I had to keep going back.
01:23And even when you watch the show, you still feel that way.
01:26You know, we're with Dunk on this journey.
01:28You're going forward.
01:29So there's a simplicity of the narrative that I think makes it very easy to sit down and get to know this world.
01:38But then we give you all of the hallmarks of the show and the books, everything that everyone loved throughout the course of the season.
01:47There's a little bit for everybody while still being very specific and very true to these novellas, which obviously have a huge rabid fan base of their own.
01:56And just letting Dunk, you know, lead us through this world.
02:00You know, we feel very fortunate that we can do that because you just can't not like Dunk no matter what.
02:07Even if you don't like fantasy, you know, even if you never watched Game of Thrones before, Dunk is a hugely relatable, just lovable, interesting character who's going to go through some shit this season.
02:22That's an interesting question.
02:23I don't know any answer to it.
02:24I do know that among my readers, the Dunk and Egg novellas are very, very popular.
02:30A lot of my fans say these are these are the best thing George has ever done.
02:34But I think there's enough people who would like the world to be big and varied and with a lot of different stories in it.
02:43I don't as a writer, I do not want to keep repeating the same story over and over again.
02:48I think it's just like what George and I said, it's going to be a very different Game of Thrones tale that that kind of it's not that chase for the throne by a bunch of different families.
03:02You know, for a lot of people, that's going to be really refreshing.
03:05And for a lot of people, that's probably going to be maybe frustrating.
03:08I was such a fan of the original series and I know that ours is going to be a lot different.
03:13But I mean, I know that you're not going to please everyone and there's a million and seven thousand three hundred and forty eight billion Game of Thrones fans out there.
03:23Me, one of them.
03:24And, you know, to think that you're going to please everyone is is a is a very tall order.
03:30But I'm I'm savagely proud of what we've done.
03:33And I'm I'm proud of what everybody in the crew and everybody in production has done.
