Two women have disowned close family members after repeated threats from loan sharks.

Heng, 60, said she disowned her daughter and son-in-law after receiving gruesome photos and harassing calls over debts totaling RM20,000.
In a separate case, Chia, 54, disowned her younger brother after he fled, leaving the family to deal with RM30,000 in gambling-related debts.

00:26who wished to be identified only as Heng,
00:29said she received gruesome photos from a loan shark
00:32showing people with severed genitals,
00:34with claims that he had carried out the axe himself.
00:52Heng said her peace of mind was shattered
00:55by a barrage of phone calls from illegal moneylenders
00:58over loans taken by her 36-year-old daughter
01:01and her husband, who went into hiding last month.
01:04She revealed the couple had borrowed around 20,000 ringgit
01:08from 20 loan sharks since 2024.
01:11Angered by her daughter's actions,
01:13Heng said she no longer cares what happens to her,
01:16having disowned her.
01:17In a separate case, highlighted at the same press conference,
01:40a part-time accountant, Chia, 54,
01:42said she is disowning her younger brother after he fled in June last year,
01:47leaving their family to shoulder multiple illegal loans.
01:50Chia said her 34-year-old brother, a compulsive online gambler,
01:55had accumulated debts exceeding 30,000 ringgit.
01:58Despite the family's efforts to help him repay,
02:01he continued borrowing from loan sharks.
02:03Chia said she has received threatening calls this month from loan sharks,
02:07who appeared to know her address and vehicle details,
02:11even threatening to burn her car or house.
02:13She also reported that her home had been vandalized
02:16with red and green paint twice, in July and last month.
02:21Chong noted that the harassment by loan sharks had become so severe
02:24that both families were forced to take the painful step
02:27of disowning their own family members.
02:30Both Heng and Chia have lodged police reports
02:32with the Kajang and Sentul police, respectively.
