00:00We haven't had a good love story on TV or film, I think since, I'm going to say it, Twilight?
00:06Like where we just had two people just really in love with each other.
00:13Welcome back to Yap Session, where we talk about everything that Page Six is obsessing over.
00:19All the staffers cannot stop talking about, of course, heated rivalry.
00:24We've got to kick it off.
00:25I never watched hockey in my life and now I'm plugged in.
00:29I'm on the ice.
00:29No, the NHL was like, people are interested now.
00:31I don't even understand this.
00:32Do you guys watch?
00:33But it's not the NHL, it's the MHL.
00:36They're the Boston Raiders and the Montreal.
00:39Yeah, of course.
00:40All the teams are different.
00:42But anyway, let's talk about heated rivalry, HBO and Crave's hit show.
00:46Hit show.
00:47I mean, everyone is talking about it.
00:49Taylor, I think you said you watched it multiple times.
00:51I did.
00:52I watched it twice.
00:53I'm going to watch it a third time, I think.
00:55Everyone's been saying that, too.
00:56It just came out five minutes ago.
00:57No, literally, when I started watching it, I think there was two episodes out and I was, like, feigning for more.
01:04I was, like, where are the episodes?
01:06Like, I have to have it right now.
01:07And episode three totally takes a turn with new characters.
01:10Yes.
01:10I was a little bit, like...
01:11I was so shocked because I feel like the cover art was, um, what's the guy's name?
01:16The new characters.
01:18Shane.
01:18Oh, Scott and Kip.
01:19It's like Shane Hunter and the barista.
01:22Like, that was the cover.
01:23And I'm like, who the hell are these people?
01:25They're like, who's Scott and Kip?
01:26Yeah.
01:27Turns out, it really pays off.
01:28Episode five.
01:29No spoilers here.
01:30If you haven't watched, you've got to watch it.
01:32It's me.
01:33I haven't watched it, so please don't spoil it for me.
01:35I'm going to watch it.
01:36I watched the first episode and I was very much hooked.
01:38So, you guys, but I hear nothing.
01:40You guys keep talking about it.
01:41Female fans are obsessed with this.
01:42You know, I'm a gay man.
01:44This is a show about closeted gay hockey players.
01:46But that would not be enough to get the ratings that is this show.
01:51Like, women, straight women, everyone is watching this show.
01:55People are also in love with the actors who are playing the main characters.
01:59Like, oh my gosh.
02:00I have not seen this type of obsession with two leading male, you know, actors in a role.
02:07In a long time.
02:09Yeah, I saw them pulling up to Jimmy Fallon and people were losing their mind.
02:13Like, the Beatles had arrived.
02:14It was a One Direction style insanity.
02:18And it's crazy how fast it happened because this dropped November 28th.
02:21Yeah.
02:21Like a month.
02:22It's been a month.
02:23I didn't know people were, like, as obsessed with it as they were.
02:26Like, I honestly feel like this week is when it really hit and I just finished the episode on Sunday.
02:31Yeah.
02:31Yes, Hudson Williams was on Jimmy Fallon.
02:33Yeah.
02:33He plays Hollander.
02:35That's my Russian accent.
02:37Hollander.
02:37And, of course, Connor's story plays Ilya Rozenov.
02:40And the thing that shocked me the most when the show came out was the dude is not Russian.
02:45He's not Russian.
02:45He's from Texas.
02:47Texas.
02:48I cannot actually get over that.
02:50Like, I will not shut up about it.
02:51I'm like, he is so good.
02:52He's a linguist.
02:53Yeah.
02:54That's one of the best parts of the show.
02:55It really is.
02:56Like, I mean, no spoilers, but, like, you get to that, you know, big monologue in Russian and it's like.
03:02You know the drag queen Katya?
03:03That was so romantic.
03:04She's Russian and she says his accent is perfect.
03:07I love that.
03:07But she can't tell.
03:09I'm not Russian, but I thought so.
03:11I'm not Russian, but it sounded Russian.
03:15But it's kind of perfect to me.
03:17Oh, my gosh.
03:17Yeah, I think he learned it in, like, three weeks.
03:21Something crazy like that.
03:22I don't know.
03:22Don't quote me on that.
03:23I mean, the real star of the show, though, is the intimacy coordinator or lack thereof.
03:27Yeah, it's hot.
03:29They're really, like, into each other.
03:31Like, when I watched some of their interviews outside of this, like, they were, like, talking about how they just love each other's bodies.
03:36Like, they didn't disclose their own sexualities.
03:38They want to keep that private.
03:39But they have this relationship with one another's bodies, which I think is quite interesting.
03:43I feel like they had instant chemistry, I mean, from all the interviews.
03:47Not that I've been scouring the internet for every interview out there.
03:50But if I had, you would see that they say multiple times that they had, like, an instant chemistry so they feel very comfortable with one another.
03:58Which I think is, it's really nice to see, like, I think another thing that women like about the show is, like, I love seeing emotionally available men.
04:07Right.
04:07It's, like, I'm so tired.
04:09Exactly, exactly.
04:10It's a love story at its heart.
04:12You know, you really see these two guys, like, yearning for each other.
04:15And it's really beautiful.
04:17I mean, we haven't had a good love story on TV or film, I think, since, I'm going to say it, Twilight?
04:24Like, where we're just, like, two people just really in love with each other.
04:28Yeah.
04:28Like, just the thirst, you know?
04:31Like, the yearning.
04:32We were talking about the yearning.
04:33The yearning.
04:34That's the best part.
04:35There's a lot of sex, but the yearning, you tell me, is the best part.
04:38It's the best part.
04:39I mean, I think, like, the sex gets people into the show, where it's like, okay, this
04:44is raunchy, this is steamy, but it's like, I love the will-they-won't-they, like, the
04:49little texting.
04:50It's so cute.
04:51Like, I love that.
04:53I also have a really hot take.
04:54Like, I wanted more of Scott and Kip.
04:57Oh, yeah.
04:58Right.
04:58Supposedly, there's more books about them.
05:00Yeah.
05:00So, I've heard, I don't know if this is true, so if anybody does know, correct me if I'm
05:04wrong, but the first book is about Scott and Kip, and the second book is what the show
05:10is based on.
05:11Yes, I think that's correct.
05:13So, Ashley, is it fair to say you want more banana in your smoothie?
05:16Yeah.
05:16They were just so, like, I don't know, their, the way that they told their story was just
05:23so romantic.
05:25It was very rom-com.
05:26Yeah, it was.
05:27It was very rom-com.
05:27Yes, episode five, you know, without spoiling anything, reminded me of, speaking of rom-coms,
05:33Never Been Kissed with Drew Barrymore.
05:34Yes.
05:35Where she's waiting for the guy on the baseball field, and then it happens, and there's this
05:40public display of affection that's just, it's just beautiful.
05:44It was so cute, and I just loved watching, I don't know, their little, like, romantic,
05:50but it was, like, subtly, they were flirty, and Kip was like, no, he's not into me, and
05:56it was, like, so obvious.
05:57It was just so cute, like, that little flirtation that they had.
06:01It was a crazy thing in the world of hockey, like, I, and I, of course, I didn't watch the
06:05whole thing, so I don't know, but I, you don't see that kind of expression in that world
06:09of sports.
06:10Right.
06:10That's so hyper-masculine, especially hockey, so.
06:12Oh, yeah, they're punching each other on the ice.
06:14Yeah.
06:14Yeah.
06:15Hockey players are missing teeth.
06:16It's, like, the opposite end of the spectrum, where it's, like.
06:19And I think people maybe are looking for that, like, in that space, like, yeah, like, people
06:23can have a heart and also be vicious when they need to be on the board.
06:26Yeah, right.
06:27I saw this, I think it was on Reddit, where they were calling it Boy Aquarium.
06:30Yes.
06:31Yes.
06:32Yes.
06:32They're inside the glass.
06:33And the girls are going to have girls' nights out to watch the Boy Aquarium.
06:37Yeah, and they're, like, I'm just here to watch the heated ride for you.
06:39They're, like, when are they going to kiss?
06:41I know, I do feel.
06:42I need to get some tickets to the New Jersey Devils.
06:44I was going to say, I do feel a page six field trip coming by.
06:48We're all in the crowd, like.
06:50I think we're going to be disappointed when they don't kiss.
06:53That's okay.
06:53The viral TikToks are funny.
06:56We can do the stretching.
06:57I can watch the stretching.
06:59Got to get there early for the on-the-rink stretching.
07:01The viral TikToks are hilarious of the girls at the games, and then it's, like, a cutaway of
07:05the ice, and then back to them, and they're, like, so when do they kiss?
07:08Yeah, literally.
07:09Wait, going back to what Ashley said about she wanted more of that other love story.
07:14Scott and Kim.
07:15Yeah, I think that, honestly, they went into it probably just, like, not expecting it to
07:21blow up like it did.
07:22So I think there's potential for more growth of that couple.
07:28And, you know, for them to, like, expand on that whole universe is, I think, now, when
07:34they're seeing all the success coming from it, it's, like, how are they going to possibly
07:38stop at season two?
07:40Because I know season two is announced, but not until next year.
07:432027.
07:45And this is going to be a game changer in Hollywood, because no one saw this coming.
07:48I mean, no pun intended.
07:48I think Game Changer is one of the books, I think.
07:51Oh, really?
07:52Yeah.
07:52But, like, seriously, I think, you know, there's going to be a million meetings, you know, this
07:56month in Hollywood, where people are saying, how can we develop more erotica, more smut?
08:01More gay content, too, which I think is true.
08:04Yeah.
08:04Absolutely.
08:05Because, like, Euphoria had, like, that, you know, aspect of it where it was just, like,
08:12very sex-forward, and, like, no one had the same reaction.
08:16You know what I mean?
08:17It's just not the same.
08:18Yeah.
08:19It's a little different when they're high school students.
08:20Yeah.
08:20And also, like, yeah, that.
08:22Exactly.
08:23The women not feeling respected on the show.
08:25Yeah, exactly.
08:25That's the thing.
08:26Like, all of the women are just treated like garbage.
08:29Oh, good point.
08:29I did notice there was a lot of, in the show, like, underlying consent.
08:36Yes.
08:36That they made it, like, very obvious in a good way.
08:39Yeah.
08:39That they were, like, moving things in the direction they were all trying to go.
08:44Absolutely.
08:44Which was very subtle, but, like, well done to that regard, too.
08:48100%.
08:48Well, just quickly around the table, are you Team Hollander or Team Rosenhoff?
08:53Um...
08:54Rosanoff, for me.
08:56I thought Longhoff was so sexy.
08:57I was like, I just enjoy seeing him.
08:59Me too.
08:59Now, I will say, um, Hollander, I forgot the guy's real name, but, like, off...
09:04Hudson Williams.
09:04Hudson Williams.
09:05Hudson, yeah.
09:05Hudson Williams.
09:06Like, with the long hair, I think he looks really good.
09:10Yeah.
09:10Yeah, I think Shane is not, for me, Hudson Williams, however, is...
09:16People are saying they're, like, their characters are who they are, like, in real...
09:19They're, like, switched in real life.
09:21So, like, the real...
09:22Their persona in real life is, like, the complete opposite from who they play in the show.
09:28So...
09:28Yeah.
09:28They're gonna be huge, massive stars, no matter where the rest of the show develops and goes.
09:34We're gonna be seeing them on our TVs and in the movies for a big time.
09:38Absolutely.
09:38And speaking of Euphoria...
09:40Yeah, it's coming back.
09:41It's coming back after a huge long...
09:43Oh, my God.
09:43Are they, like, 30 years old now?
09:45Yeah.
09:46There is a time jump.
09:47There is a time jump.
09:48Oh, there is a time jump.
09:48Because there was one in real life, so...
09:50It's giving Stranger Things.
09:52Yeah.
09:52So, let's talk about some of the most anticipated TV shows and movies of 2026.
09:58It's the start of the year.
09:59What is everyone most excited about this year?
10:01We've got so much TV and movies to catch up on this year.
10:05For me, traitors, number one, hands down.
10:08I will not shut up about that.
10:10The cast looks so good.
10:11Everybody talking about heated rivalry, get it out now, because I will certainly never shutting up about traitors.
10:18Wait, who's on the cast?
10:19Lisa Rinna.
10:20Oh, my gosh.
10:21Lisa Rinna.
10:22Donna Kelsey.
10:24Oh, yeah.
10:24Monet X Change.
10:26Yes.
10:26Came into the studio here in Just About Traitors.
10:29Yes.
10:30Magic Mike Award winner, Candace Dillard-Bassett.
10:33Yes.
10:33Oh, Candace.
10:34And Portia.
10:36Dorinda's back.
10:38Oh, yeah.
10:38There's, of course...
10:39Is there a Dylan Efron type, though?
10:41Is there someone that's going to charm us?
10:43Steven from The Hills.
10:44Oh, that's right.
10:45Oh, that's right.
10:45Steven Kalepp.
10:46Yes.
10:47He's on it this.
10:48Yeah.
10:49Former MTV DJ.
10:50Right.
10:51He's a cutie.
10:51Yeah, he's a cutie.
10:53Love that.
10:54Colton Underwood is on it.
10:55Okay, Colton.
10:56Yeah.
10:57And then, of course, there's the usual competitors, like the winners from Survivor and the winners
11:02from Big Brother and people that I never know until the end, and then I'm, like, obsessed
11:06with them, too.
11:07Yeah.
11:07So, I won't be showing you about that.
11:10Absolutely.
11:11I'm excited about The Pit.
11:15Love The Pit.
11:16It's coming.
11:17It's out now, the new season.
11:18Yeah, I know.
11:18So, I need to watch.
11:19But, like, I feel like I'm in industry mode right now, which is another one that I'm excited
11:23about.
11:24I love industry.
11:25I am not caught up yet.
11:26I think the only problem with industry is that the name sounds like something boring.
11:30They should call it the slutty banker show.
11:33Right.
11:33Oh, wait.
11:34Okay, now I'm interested.
11:35Yeah.
11:35It's a bunch of investment bankers.
11:37This is on HBO.
11:37It's a bunch of investment bankers in London just getting into trouble, doing drugs.
11:43Yeah.
11:43Sex, drugs.
11:44Screw each other over.
11:44I love it.
11:45I feel like the work aspects gives me the Sunday scaries.
11:48I'm, like, I'm not.
11:49So, you're, like, show me a cubicle.
11:50No, no.
11:51Also, why is HBO always putting these shows on Sundays?
11:53It's, like, okay.
11:55Right.
11:55You have the scaries right after, and you have to go to work the next day.
11:57I am interested to hear about The Pit, because I feel like, because it's on HBO, we've
12:01always seen these, like, medical dramas, but, like, HBO, you know, can get more gory and
12:05stuff like that.
12:05Is it, does it have that element in there?
12:07I think it definitely does.
12:08It's not, like, overwhelmingly gory, because I will faint at the sight of blood, but when
12:13it's through a TV screen, I think it's different.
12:14Like, I think it's, it focuses more on the, you know, residents and the doctors and their
12:20relationships, but I like that it's so fast moving, and it's, like, it feels like you're
12:25in the scene with them, in a way.
12:26It's not very, like, I don't know.
12:29What would you, has anybody watched The Pit?
12:31I'm the only one.
12:32Every episode is an hour, and it's starring Noah Wiley from ER fame, and he's,
12:37won awards for it.
12:37The show's won awards already.
12:39So, to me, it does seem like a stressy show.
12:43It's definitely a little bit stressful.
12:45You're in an ER.
12:46Yeah, and you're, like, it's, it's, like, okay, this is what happens at, you know, 12
12:50p.m., and it's this hour, and then that's the hour of television, and then it's, like,
12:54so it happens within a, you know, blank hour shift of the ER, you know, medical team, so.
13:02But I enjoy it.
13:03There's not a Maddox in an episode of it.
13:05No, that's another show.
13:07Oh.
13:08That's what it is.
13:08Sorry.
13:08Different hospital.
13:09That's a different hospital.
13:10That's when you see something, but, yeah.
13:11Oh, that would make sense, I guess.
13:13Her ties to Bravo and NBC.
13:14Oh, sorry.
13:15Wrong hospital show.
13:17But, yeah.
13:17Guess I need to start watching The Pit.
13:19Do any of you guys watch Handmaid's Tale?
13:21Have you ever watched it?
13:22Is it coming back?
13:23Yes.
13:23So, it's not coming back.
13:24Sixth and final season was last year, 2025, but the, a new sequel's coming out called The Testaments.
13:29So, it's not going to have Elizabeth Moss in it, who's the star of the original show, which she was, mm, chef's kiss, phenomenal, love her.
13:37She won't be in it, but her daughter, Hannah, will be in it, and she'll have a new name, I think Agnes, and it'll basically be Gilead, which is, like, this dystopian universe where they use women's bodies as reproductive machines, essentially, and so they'll be showing, in the future, the youth in that, in that kind of world living in that environment, and how they're kind of faring, growing up.
13:59Because, you know, kind of what happened in the original show was, like, they were living normal life, and then they got taken over by this kind of religious, theocratic, um, um, dictatorship.
14:09Um, but what's happening now is you're seeing the people that were born into this, and now what they kind of grow up to be.
14:16I'm really excited to see how this all turns out.
14:19It sounds so, like, a little too close to home.
14:22Nice!
14:23Yeah, I'm describing it like I'm hearing it.
14:26Yeah, yeah.
14:26I know, it's like Moss is not in it, but Ann Dowd is in it, who plays Aunt Lydia, which is, like, hands down, one of the best, like, TV villains, like, anti-hero.
14:38I don't, you know what I mean?
14:39You love to hate her.
14:40Love to hate her.
14:41She is horrible, like, really a bad person.
14:43She has, like, it's like, she's so, she's so talented.
14:47She's so good at being there.
14:47I love a good villain, which is why I'm excited about Amazon's The Boys, their final season.
14:53And then Homelander is a full-on supervillain in the show.
14:58The show has such amazing special effects.
15:00I'm kind of over the superhero thing, like, yeah, there's a Spider-Man coming out and Avengers coming out.
15:05Right.
15:06But, like, Amazon's The Boys scratches that itch for me, and that's coming back in, I think, April, so I'm excited about that.
15:11It's so fun because it does it in almost, like, a realistic way.
15:14Like, if people really had powers, like, how would they behave?
15:16Yes.
15:17Oh, yeah.
15:17Like, it's messy.
15:19It's definitely messy.
15:20I appreciate that.
15:21Do you have a favorite of, like, characters?
15:25Yeah, the characters.
15:27Ooh.
15:27Ooh, that's a great question.
15:28I really like Marie, or I like her powers, like the bloodbending sort of thing.
15:32Yes, yes, yes, yes.
15:33I always, I mean, I personally have always liked Chase Crawford, this character, the deep, who talks to fish.
15:38Very creepy.
15:39And has a relationship with an octopus.
15:41Very creepy.
15:41Oh, my gosh.
15:42I've been at him from Scossip Girl, honey.
15:44Yeah, exactly.
15:44I'm a season behind The Boys, so maybe I should catch up now before it premieres.
15:48It's kind of gory, too, though, you know?
15:50It is.
15:50You're talking about the pit being gory.
15:51Some of the special effects.
15:52This is way more gory than.
15:54Is it an HBO show?
15:55No.
15:56Amazon Prime Video.
15:57Amazon Prime Video.
15:58Got it.
15:58Yeah.
15:58Because I feel like some of the HBO shows are just gory for gory's sake.
16:01Like, okay, enough.
16:02Enough with the sex and the exact.
16:03Yeah.
16:03I mean, I get it.
16:04We're all grown here, but it feels a little gratuitous sometimes, so.
16:07I know.
16:07And the special effects are, like, too good, and you're like, whoa.
16:10I did not need to see that.
16:11Movies that people are super excited about for 2026.
16:14I mean, we've already gotten into Devil Wears Prada, like, you know.
16:17Check.
16:17Check.
16:18Opening night.
16:19Let's read through, because I wrote down Anne Hathaway is having a run next year.
16:23Devil Wears Prada 2 is not her only movie coming out.
16:25The Odyssey, Flower Veil Station.
16:27Oh, yeah, The Odyssey.
16:28Right.
16:28Or, she has, like, five movies.
16:30Like, Verity, Monster Mary.
16:32Very, that's the only other one.
16:33I can't even read my own writing.
16:34And then Princess Diaries 3 is coming out.
16:35Maybe not this year, but maybe the next year.
16:37Okay.
16:37But, you know, Anne Hathaway is keeping a check.
16:39That's Anne Keep-A-Job-Hathaway for y'all, y'all.
16:41Yeah.
16:42Dakota Johnson is also in Verity, and it's a Colleen Hoover book.
16:46Yeah.
16:47Right?
16:47Yeah.
16:47I love Dakota Johnson.
16:49So, the two of them are going to be doing press surrounding a Colleen Hoover book.
16:53I mean, that's going to be interesting.
16:55I really hope it goes different than the last time that two people did press for a Colleen Hoover book.
17:01Brian, what's yours?
17:04Wait, this was...
17:05Are you talking about This Is The End?
17:06Yeah.
17:07No, it's...
17:08This Is Us?
17:09No.
17:10It ends with us.
17:11It ends with us.
17:12It ends with us.
17:13We don't know.
17:14We know Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni are still fighting over it, but we can't remember.
17:18How many decades are we going to go into this?
17:20We get it.
17:21The movie I'm most excited for that's on the near horizon is Wuthering Heights.
17:26It's Emerald Fennel directing.
17:28Of course, she did Salt Burn.
17:29We've got Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, and the music is by Charlie XCX.
17:35It's Valentine's Day.
17:37It's going to be a perfect, just sweeping romance.
17:40It's going to be ridiculous.
17:41The music's going to be great.
17:42I'm excited about that one.
17:43Oh, I love it.
17:43That's going to be really fun.
17:44Yeah.
17:45Also, not for nothing, another Bridgerton is coming, speaking of romance.
17:48Yeah.
17:49Shrinking's coming back.
17:50Like, we've got a lot to be watching, you guys.
17:52Hacks.
17:53Emmy Darling Hacks.
17:54Yeah.
17:55They don't leave any room for anyone else to win an Emmy.
17:57Speaking of, it is award season.
18:00Oh, yeah.
18:00Golden Globes, Big Night.
18:02Nikki Glaser always hits those really funny punchlines.
18:05And now our award season is here.
18:07We've kicked off.
18:08We have the Critics' Choice.
18:09We have the Golden Globes.
18:11The Grammys are coming up.
18:12We have a lot.
18:13Yeah.
18:14We have a lot to see to come.
18:15It seems like in the movie category, one battle after another is just unstoppable.
18:19It's got perfect reviews.
18:21People said it's really fun.
18:22It's Paul Thomas Anderson, Leonardo DiCaprio.
18:24I mean, Tiana Taylor.
18:26Like, all the performances are so fun.
18:28It is fun.
18:29It's fun.
18:30It keeps it moving.
18:31It's an action movie that feels fun.
18:32I mean, Jennifer Lawrence was, like, gushing about it on the red carpet.
18:35She said, my boyfriend dragged me to this movie, and I was blown away.
18:39How did I not know about it?
18:39She's kind of mad.
18:40She's like, why am I not in this?
18:41Yeah, you're right.
18:42And Chase Infinity, the new young actor, Cindy, who plays Leonardo DiCaprio's daughter, is amazing.
18:48She's so good.
18:49So good.
18:50I love that for them.
18:51And there's so many big moments coming up for the cast, too.
18:54Because, of course, the Oscars will be in March, and we've got a lot of exciting stuff.
19:00It feels like award shows are turning the corner where they're doing more crowd pleasers,
19:04more movies that are actually popular.
19:06Sinners is getting some love.
19:08Sinners is a big hit.
19:09Weapons is getting love.
19:10Weapons is a big horror movie hit.
19:12Horror movies don't win awards.
19:13It was...
19:13Which is amazing.
19:14Things are changing.
19:15I love it.
19:15Yeah.
19:16And speaking of changing, the Oscars is going to be on YouTube now.
19:19No, that's nuts.
19:20In 2029.
19:21Yeah, yeah, yeah.
19:22But at any point, that's really crazy, because YouTube is, like, it doesn't feel that...
19:26Oscars feel so big, and YouTube feels so, like, living room and just regular.
19:29Right.
19:30And it's, like, but they're trying to meet people where they're at, I guess.
19:32I'm so interested, because I feel like...
19:34There was a point in time where Hollywood almost was excluding these YouTubers or influencers
19:37from, like, kind of coming into their world, but now it's, like, they're going into the
19:41YouTube world.
19:42It's, like, yeah.
19:43Yeah, that's an interesting point.
19:44I didn't think about that.
19:45And I've been following the Oscars or the Academy Awards on Instagram, and instead of
19:49being snooty, only posting the winners from all the years, they've been posting nominees
19:56and other kind of tangential clips from past years that are kind of, you know, unsung, you know, movies and performances, and it's kind of cool.
20:08Like, I think they're realizing they need to speak to a wider audience.
20:11Yeah, it's like, you don't want them to feel as stuffy anymore.
20:14It's just not the way that Gen Z operates.
20:17It's meant to be.
20:18And even, like, SAG Awards, like, people, I know half the world, like, we all kind of work in this media world, so we know what that means.
20:23But everybody doesn't necessarily know what that means, and it felt very insidery and, like, you're not, it's not really for you, so now they're changing it to the After Awards, right?
20:31So, who knows what the Screen Actors Guild is?
20:33It's like, oh, it's a union, what's SAG-AFTRA, it's so...
20:35Right, why don't they Google things to just watch your show?
20:37Right, right.
20:38So, they're changing things to meet people again where they're at.
20:41Do we think that other award shows may follow this path that the Oscars is taking in 2029?
20:46Moving to streamer.
20:46Depending on how it goes.
20:48If it goes well, I think they're all going to be followed in suit for sure, but, you know, because it's airing on cable, and who has...
20:55We're trying to be able to have cable in here.
20:56I certainly don't.
20:57I do.
20:58Come on, cable girly.
20:59One out of five.
21:00My one, yeah, yeah.
21:02Yeah.
21:02But it's always been on ABC, so this is a very big step in a different direction, so it will be interesting to see if other award shows follow suit to see if they can get bigger ratings on streamers or social platforms or whatever might change the way that we watch our award shows.
21:18I mean, this year at the Oscars, the only sure award is K-pop Demon Hunters winning best song of the year.
21:26Right.
21:27And that is crazy to think that this animated Netflix movie about K-pop Demon Hunters is going to win, but Golden was a number one song of the year.
21:36And that song is going to win an Oscar, and it's going to beat out the Wicked songs and anything else that came out this year.
21:42But it is one of those things, too, where, like, this will be one of those moments where we see if that does win or if it, because of its popularity, because everybody knows it was the number one song in the world, essentially, or if it's going to go to these more prestige...
21:58And that's the, like, kind of fork in the road, right?
22:02Like, is it the critics and kind of, like, an actor's actor or that kind of thing, or is it, like, what the people like?
22:07If you ask me, it should be what the people like, what the people are enjoying, and a mixture of, like, including, like, the artistic ability and execution and all that kind of stuff, but at the end of the day, people love it.
22:17There's something to that.
22:18I think that's the biggest thing that I like about the SAG Awards, well, the Actor Awards now, it's because the actors can vote on, like, I'm part of SAG, I can vote for, you know, the performances that I enjoy, like, and everybody in the room can, you know, vote on their peers.
22:36Are you going to vote for Timmy?
22:38Absolutely not.
22:40He's been campaigning so hard.
22:42Sorry, Timmy, I hate all of your marketing.
22:44It's too much, it's, like, too in-your-face to where I'm, like, it's, like, averting me from seeing the movie, to be perfectly honest.
22:50But I think it's an example of how the world is changing, where it's, you can be shameless about promoting for your, you know, your award season campaign, and Timmy's definitely being shameless.
23:01I mean, he was standing on top of the sphere in Las Vegas to promote his movie.
23:06I was certain that was AI, and then I watched it three times over, and I'm like, no, my God, I think he's really up there.
23:11He's up there.
23:13I didn't even know he could do that.
23:14Risking his life for us.
23:15Risking his life for Marty Superman.
23:17I enjoyed the dedication.
23:18Risking his life for that astronom.
23:19And, you know, one thing I learned is the SAG, SAG Awards is the only one that have, like, ensemble awards.
23:24They're the only ones I give out to the whole cast, which I enjoy a little teamwork, you know what I mean?
23:27It's not just about the one person.
23:28Everyone gets to take home a statue, I like that.
23:30Yeah.
23:31Yeah.
23:31You know, millennia, that's my core.
23:34Right.
23:35No, but it's nice, because it's, like, sometimes you have this amazing ensemble cast, and then it's, like, you know you have one standout, you know, Leonardo DiCaprio,
23:43who's gonna get the nom.
23:44And it's, like, you know, at the other award shows, it's always...
23:49I love it when it's, like, everyone get up on the stage.
23:52Yeah.
23:52Yeah.
23:53Yeah, get up here.
23:54We can all celebrate together.
23:56I mean, if these actors are winning, it's because they're supporting people.
23:59Right.
23:59We're just as helpful with the role as they were.
24:02So they all deserve it.
24:04Well, you know, award season is my favorite season.
24:09Yes.
24:09You know, it's cold.
24:10There's a super flu going around.
24:12We are...
24:12People are dropping like flies around here.
24:14And this is keeping me alive.
24:17We got the Globes.
24:17We got the Critics' Choice Awards.
24:18We got the Actor Awards.
24:19We got the Oscars.
24:20And Music's Biggest Night is coming up.
24:24Oh, my God.
24:25And YAP Session is going to be talking Monday morning, live, right here on YouTube, about the Grammys.
24:31The Grammys.
24:32Yes.
24:32And everybody at home needs to tune in and weigh in, because we want to hear what everybody else is enjoying.
24:38From the awards ceremony, who they think was a surprise, who was a snub, who was a good performance.
24:45Best looks, honey.
24:46I can't wait to see the looks, the fashion, the hair, everything.
24:49The Grammys always bring the most insane fashion in the best way, because it's like, it's not, again, it's not as like stuck up.
24:57They can have fun.
24:58They can wear like crazy things.
25:00It feels more like a party.
25:02I mean, Taylor Swift makes it a party every time she's there dancing in the audience.
25:06It's the most fun award show, because it's an actual concert.
25:09Yeah.
25:09Yeah, exactly.
25:10With the top artists of the year, so you're not missing.
25:13That's like the best concert you could possibly go to.
25:15Right.
25:15And it's humbling, because sometimes, you know, these newer artists, they get the Grammys, you know, stage moment, and it doesn't totally work.
25:23And it's like, well, better look next year.
25:25Yeah.
25:25You know, it's a big stage.
25:27I love to see the celebrities in the audience, like, jamming out to the songs, like, oh, you like that song, too?
25:31Yeah.
25:31I like that song.
25:32I thought I knew that was my girl.
25:34You have good taste.
25:35We can listen to this and get ready for a game together.
25:38Absolutely.
25:39Well, we'll see you February 2nd, right here on Page Six's YouTube.
25:43Thanks for watching App Session.
