The Education Ministry’s Child Protection Policy will be enforced nationwide when schools reopen next week.
In her New Year address on Friday (Jan 9), Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek revealed that a nationwide audit of 850 schools and hostels last year found that only 28.94% had fully functioning CCTV systems.
Fadhlina also said a new directive requiring transferring students to submit health, mental health and disciplinary records will enable schools to provide appropriate support, as part of broader reforms to safeguard every student’s right to education regardless of disciplinary history or mental health challenges.
