The Education Ministry will roll out psychological first aid (PFA) training for teachers next year to boost psychological and counselling support in schools, Deputy Minister Wong Kah Woh told the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday (Oct 28).
He said teachers, wardens and discipline teachers play a vital role as frontliners in safeguarding students’ welfare and identifying those at risk of bullying.
The ministry is also enhancing the Akrab programme, which equips teachers with basic counselling skills, and has proposed broader psychological training for school leaders and education officers.
